ocke is the toughest bastard I have ever patched into this club,” Dad says with absolute

conviction. “He’s smart, he’s cold under pressure, and he’s surviving. He knows we’re coming for

him. He knows you are waiting for him. You think Vane or whoever is pulling the strings is going to break a man who has your love waiting at the end of the road? Not a chance in hell.”

“And the rest of you?” I press, my voice trembling. “What about you? What about Mayhem, Rook and Stitch? I can’t lose you, Dad. This baby can’t grow up in a world without its grandfather.”

Dad’s eyes soften.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he promises. “I’ve got too much to stick around for. I’m going to teach

this little one how to ride a bicycle, how to spot a liar from fifty yards away, and how to drive their

father absolutely insane.”

A broken laugh escapes from my throat, and I wipe a stray tear from my cheek with the sleeve of

Locke’s sweater. “He’s already insane.”

“Good. It builds character.” He c***s his head at me. “Okay?”

“Better. Thanks.”

He picks up his coffee, takes a long, slow sip as his gaze shifts toward the rain–slicked window.

The quiet father vanishes, replaced in a fraction of a second by the calculating, dangerous

President of the Grinning Skulls MC.

“We’re changing the strike plan,” Dad says abruptly, his tone dropping an octave into business. “We decided for sure last night.”

“Pip said to use the northern drainage pipe. It runs under the chain–link fence and sits right under the blind spot of the roof cameras.”

“Pip was right about the blind spot,” Dad agrees, his eyes cold. “Which is exactly why this new crew is counting on us to use it.”

A cold spike of adrenaline shoots straight down my spine. “An ambush?”

Dad nods.

My pulse spikes, the phantom sound of gunfire echoing in my head. “So what do you do? If the pipe is burnt, how do you get inside without bringing the whole place down on your heads?”

“We flip the trap.”

I lean forward, my knuckles white against the marble counter. “How? Tell me the plan, Dad. Let me help-

,” he cuts in firmly.

I blink, caught off guard. “No?”

“You are not going to know the new insertion angle, Zara,” he says, holding my gaze without an ounce of cruelty, but with complete, unshakeable authority. “Not a f*****g snowball’s chance in

“Because I love you,” Dad replies instantly. “And because whoever is calling the shots for this outcast army knows our world too well. If this operation goes sideways, if the police swarm the perimeter, or if one of those dogs somehow gets past our outer line, the less tactical details you carry in your head, the safer you are. You don’t need to carry the details of this breach, Zara. You need to carry your health, and you need to carry my grandchild.”

Chapter 496 1

“I trust you. Just… bring him back, Dad. Please.”

“On my patch,” Dad says, leaning down to press a firm, warm kiss against my forehead. “Now finish your coffee. I’m taking you to the clubhouse.”

I frown, looking up at him. “The clubhouse? I thought you wanted me tucked away in the penthouse where it’s safe.”

“If I leave you in this silent apartment with nothing but your thoughts and the freezing rain, you’ll chew your own arm off by noon.”

“Actually… that’s fair.”

“I know it. So you’re coming to the clubhouse. You’re going to sit in the bar, you’re going to drink water and Willow’s weird tea, and you’re going to watch your family prepare to tear this city apart
