Chapter 261-2

The house feets lived–in, grounded, and comforting in all the ways my studio isn’t. The air is thick with the soothing scent of roasted squash, earthy thyme, garlic, and fresh sourdough.

On the stove, a heavy ceramic pot of rich, vegetable stew simmers softly, and a tea pot is set out on the kitchen island alongside three mismatched mugs.

Jade pulls out a cushioned stool at the island, practically forcing me to sit down before sliding a steaming mug directly into my hands. Willow grabs a soft fleece throw blanket from the couch, draping it carefully over my lap and tucking it around my legs.

“Drink,” Jade commands, leaning her elbows against the marble counter across from me. “Then we

eat.”

“Red raspberry leaf and nettle,” Willow says, floating over to sit on the stool beside mine. She reaches out, her slender hand hovering over mine before settling lightly on my fingers. “It’s so nourishing for the womb, Zara. The earth knows exactly what your body needs to ground all this nervous energy.”

1 cup my hands around the ceramic, letting the heat seep into my cold fingers. For the first time all day, my shoulders drop an inch away from my ears.

Jade unearths a dusty bottle of deep red Cabernet from the pantry, uncorking it with a sharp, satisfying pop. She pours two generous glasses – one for herself and one for Willow – while I stare dolefully at my herbal tea.

Jade leans her hip against the counter, swirling the dark liquid in her glass before taking a slow, long drink.

“God knows I need this after the week the club has had,” she states, setting her glass down with a quiet clink. “If Mayhem had walked into this house with one more territorial grunt, I was go chuck my wine right in his face just to see if his brain still functions.”

Willow takes her glass with both hands, lifting it toward the ceiling light to admire the rich, r

hue.

“It’s so vibrant,” she says, taking a delicate sip and letting out a soft sigh. “The energy of the soil and the sun trapped right in the grape. It really unblocks the creative channels after a long day.”

“It unblocks my brain from wanting to wring Mayhem’s neck,” Jade says pertly, spooning rich, dark vegetable stew into three wide ceramic bowls and sliding one in front of me alongside a thick slice

of warm sourdough. “There you go.”

We eat slowly, the stew rich, earthy, and deeply comforting. Jade and Willow refill their wine glasses, the dark Cabernet loosening the air.

The heavy gloom that usually follows me around starts to feel a little further away, nudged back by the clinking of spoons and the soft crackle of the wood stove in the adjoining living room

“Speaking of unblocking energy…” Jade turns her sharp, amused gaze onto Willow. “How are things actually progressing with you and our resident broody medic? Has Stitch officially committed to the cosmic orbit yet, or is he still pretending he just drops by your place to check your tire

pressure?”

Willow flushes a soft, ethereal pink, looking down into her wine glass with a shy, radiant smile that lights up her whole face.

Chapter 531 1

“Stayed over, huh?” Jade teases, eyebrow arched high over the rim of her glass. “And did you two finally cross the finish line, or are you still just breathing in synch?”

“We haven’t slept together, Jade. Physical intimacy is powerful, but true union requires alignment of spirit first. We’re building sacred space. I’m waiting for the energetic connection to fully integrate before we bring the physical body into it.”

I look up from my mug, blinking in mild surprise. “You haven’t slept together yet? What are you waiting for, Willow? The man looks at you like you hung the moon.”

“And in the meantime, you’re torturing him with essential oils,” Jade snorts, shaking her hea fondly. “Did you manage to convert Mr. Western Medicine to plant remedies yet, or is he still try to bandage your chakras with gauze?”

Willow laughs, a soft, tinkling sound like wind chimes.

“He’s stubborn, but the universe works in quiet ways. He had a terrible headache yesterday. He flat–out refused my white willow bark tea, called it ‘swamp water,‘ and reached for his bottle of ibuprofen.”

“Classic Stitch,” I say. “I mean… that’s him, all over the damn show.”
