The Mercenary Queen Strikes Back (Lily Hastings) novel Chapter 69

Chapter 69

Chapter 69

The implication was clear. The children Charles was “allowed” to bring back were Hannah and Maxwell. After all, they had been trained since childhood and had some qualifications to enter.

But Nova, a daughter lost for over a decade and only recently found, didn’t deserve recognition, let alone being brought to the main family.

The middle-aged man speaking was Harvey Blake, Charles’ second elder brother. He snorted inwardly, ‘Did Charles think

trash could enter the main family?’

Blake Manor housed nearly forty people across three generations, though only about a dozen people were present now. Charles had three brothers-the eldest was Daniel Blake; the second, Harvey Blake; the youngest, Finley Blake. This cismissive Harvey was Nova’s second uncle, but he clearly didn’t see her as a niece.

“Harvey, you…” Charles, ever the protective father, shot back instantly. “Nova is my daughter, too, regardless of her ability. You invited me to bring my children. I have the right to bring all of them!”

Children were Charles’ bottom line. Besides, he and Harvey had never gotten along since childhood.

Back then, Harvey had actively lobbied for Charles’ expulsion.

Hannah lost her temper. She yelled at Harvey, “Who do you think you’re intimidating? Do you think we’re desperate to come back? Either don’t invite us, or let our whole family in together. Who are you to boss us around? Get lost!”

“Whether Nova is capable or not isn’t for you to judge.” Maxwell kept his composure even while rebuking Harvey. “Hannah’s right. You have no right to comment. Step aside.”

Other relatives stayed silent, perhaps out of respect for Alfred’s presence or lacking Harvey’s nerve.

Harvey’s arrogance came from one simple fact. The main family’s strongest young genius–the one ranked 2099th on the international mercenary leaderboard-was his son.

That allowed Harvey to act with impunity in the main family. Even Alfred treated him with deference.

Alfred remained half-turned, still silent.

r Hannah and Maxwell’s retorts infuriated Harvey. Ever since his son became the main family’s strongest young genius, no one dared disrespect Harvey.

Harvey thought, ‘My son ranks 2099th internationally, and soon he’ll break into the top 2090. Achieving so much at such a young age-he might even reach the top 2000 one day.

Every rank gained at that level was incredibly difficult; the top 2000 were elites. As for the top 500, 200, or even top 100… Those were realms Harvey dared not dream of.

Being insulted by Charles and his children, the ones he looked down on most, made Harvey tremble with rage.

“You dare speak to me like that? Trying to get yourselves kicked out of the main family forever?” Harvey snapped.

He pointed at Hannah, then Maxwell, livid. “You… You’re asking for death!”

A cool female voice cut through sharply. “The one asking for death is you.”

Harvey was a bodyguard. Though not the strongest in the family, he was skilled.

The crowd glanced at Ghost-Hammer standing behind Nova and thought, a bit dubious, Can this big guy really handle Harvey?

As everyone doubted, Ghost-Haminer stepped forward. His large frame didn’t slow him down. He grabbed Harvey, spun him around in the air, and flung him out of the gate.

The move was swift and ruthless, making everyone gasp in fear.

“Is… Is this guy her bodyguard?” Relatives assumed Nova had hired Ghost-Hammer for protection and to show off.

Before they could process it, Nova turned around. Her icy eyes swept over the main family members. At that moment, she seemed like an emissary from hell, coldly announcing impending doom.

Her voice was icy. “I don’t care what you think of my family, nor do I care how ‘strong’ your young genius is. Since I’m here, keep your noisy mouths shut.”

She paused, then warned, “Otherwise, I will make the main family and Blake Security Group disappear from words. I swear.
