The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 107

Restless Night-3

Because beneath the anger, beneath the confusion, there was something else.

Something far more dangerous.

His thoughts drifted back to Iva.

To the penthouse.

To the night they had shared.

A slow breath left his lips, but it turned uneven as memories flooded him, vivid and relentless, pulling him back into the warmth of her presence, the way she had looked at him, the way she had felt in his arms, the way everything between them had felt inevitable, like gravity itself had drawn them together.

He closed his eyes, but that only made it worse.

He could almost feel her again.

“Damn it…” he whispered, his voice strained.

She was still there.

Alone.

Waiting.

Hopefully she had recovered by now, he thought, his brows knitting together slightly, concern slipping through the cracks of his frustration. Her heat had taken so much out of her, and yet she had faced it with a strength that both impressed and unsettled him.

And their night…

His body reacted before his mind could stop it.

Heat surged through his veins, sudden and intense, like fire spreading under his skin, and his muscles tensed instinctively as if preparing for something he could not control.

“Not now,” he growled softly, turning onto his side again, trying to push the thoughts away, but they clung to him, persistent and consuming.

Every detail came back too easily.

Too clearly.

Her scent.

Her touch.

Her voice.

His breathing deepened, uneven and heavy, as his control slipped just enough for instinct to bleed

through.

And then-

A low, powerful presence stirred within him.

Chaos.

The lycan shifted beneath the surface of his consciousness, ancient and dominant, rising with a slow, deliberate force that Caleb could never truly suppress.

A deep growl echoed in his mind, dark and possessive, vibrating through his very bones.

“Mate.”

The word was not spoken, it was claimed.

Caleb’s eyes snapped open, his entire body going rigid as the sound reverberated inside him, raw and undeniable.

His hand clenched into a fist against the sheets.

Claim

“No,” he said firmly, his voice low but sharp, as if he could argue with the beast itself. “We don’t know that.”

Chaos did not retreat.

If anything, the presence grew stronger, more insistent, like a shadow pressing closer, like a truth refusing to be ignored.

“Mate,” the lycan repeated, slower this time, heavier, filled with certainty that bordered on dominance.

Caleb sat up abruptly, swinging his legs over the side of the bed as he tried to ground himself, to pull away from the overwhelming pull of instinct that threatened to cloud his judgment.

“We don’t know which one,” he said, running a hand down his face, his voice strained now, frustration seeping through. “It could be Iva… or it could be Sonia. One of them is lying. One of them is manipulating us.”

A pause.

Then, quieter, almost reluctant-

“And I won’t be played.”

Silence followed, but it was not empty.

Chaos lingered, watchful, patient.

Caleb exhaled slowly, his chest rising and falling as he tried to steady himself, but the conflict remained sharp and unyielding.

Because no matter how much he tried to deny it, no matter how much logic he forced into the situation, one thing refused to be ignored.

When he thought of Iva…

His body responded.
