Arguments-3
Iva followed.
Still quiet.
Still tense.
The elevator ride was worse.
Confined.
Charged.
Every second stretched thin, the air thick with everything they were not saying, everything waiting to explode.
The moment the penthouse door closed behind them-
It happened.
Iva barely had time to take a step inside before she felt it.
His temper.
Unleashed.
“Do you remember,” Caleb’s voice cut through the space, low and tight, each word forced through clenched teeth, “what I told you a few days ago?”
She turned slowly, her brows knitting together, her exhaustion clashing with the sudden rise of irritation.
“What are you talking about?” she asked, her tone cautious but edged.
His eyes locked onto hers, sharp and burning.
“About leaving this apartment,” he continued, stepping closer, his presence overwhelming, “without informing me first.”
The accusation hit her like a spark.
And something inside her snapped.

“Oh, I remember,” Iva shot back, her voice rising instantly, the frustration she had been holding in all day finally breaking free. “Very clearly, actually.”
She took a step toward him now, her own anger igniting.
“But tell me, Caleb,” she added, her eyes flashing, “how exactly was I supposed to notify you when you didn’t even show up?”
His expression darkened.
“Through your phone,” he replied sharply, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Her laugh came out short and bitter.
“Funny,” she said, her voice dripping with irony, “because that same phone works both ways.”
The words hung between them.
Heavy.
Sharp.
A direct hit.
A clear accusation.
His absence.
His silence.
Everything she had been holding back.
Caleb’s eyes narrowed, something dangerous flickering in their depths as her meaning sank in.
“You think this is the same?” he asked, his voice dropping lower, more dangerous.
Claim
“I think,” Iva fired back, not backing down even for a second, “that you don’t get to disappear, ignore me, and then come back acting like I owe you explanations!”
Her chest rose and fell quickly, her emotions spilling over now, unfiltered and raw.
“You don’t get to control me like that!”
The words echoed in the space.
And for a moment-
Everything froze.
Because something inside Caleb shifted.
His control.
Slipping.
୮
Breaking.
He took a step forward.
Then another.
Until there was no space left between them.
“You have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said, his voice rough now, strained with something far deeper than anger.
“Then explain it!” Iva shot back immediately, her voice trembling slightly now, but not with fear-with frustration, with hurt. “Explain why you disappeared! Explain why you didn’t call, didn’t text, didn’t-”

Her words were cut off.
Not by sound.
But by force.
In one swift movement, Caleb grabbed her, his hand firm against her arm as he pushed her back against the wall, the impact soft but enough to steal the rest of her words from her lips.
Her breath caught.
His other hand came up, bracing against the wall beside her, trapping her between him and the solid surface, his body close, too close, his presence overwhelming every sense.
“Caleb-” she started, her voice unsteady now.
But he didn’t let her finish.
Because in the next second-
He kissed her.
Hard.
Intense.
A searing collision of lips that carried every ounce of anger, confusion, frustration, and something far deeper that neither of them had managed to put into words.
It wasn’t gentle..
It wasn’t soft.
It was consuming.
Iva gasped against his lips, the suddenness of it stealing her breath as her hands instinctively pressed against his chest, but she didn’t push him away.
She couldn’t.
Because despite everything-
The moment their lips met, the world tilted.
The tension between them snapped into something else entirely.
Something electric.
Something dangerous.
