Real Danger-1
Caleb did not move immediately.
Claim
He stood there, still as stone, his sharp gaze locked onto Sonia’s relaxed figure stretched across his bed, his mind working rapidly beneath the surface while his body remained deceptively calm, every instinct alert, every sense heightened.
She looked… deliberate.
Placed.
Like a trap set with care.
And Caleb had never been a man who walked blindly into traps.
Sonia shifted slightly, her movements slow, almost languid, as if she had all the time in the world, as if she already knew the outcome of this encounter, her lips curving into a soft, confident smile as her eyes lingered on him.
“Well?” she asked, her tone light, teasing, as she tilted her head just enough to let her hair fall over one shoulder. “Are you going to keep staring, or will you finally come closer to your mate?”
The word hit him again.
Mate.
Chaos stirred instantly.
Violently.
A low, dangerous growl echoed in the back of Caleb’s mind, raw and possessive, pushing forward with a force that made his muscles tense involuntarily.
“Not her.”
The lycan’s voice was sharp, absolute, filled with instinctive rejection.
“Our mate is elsewhere.”
Caleb inhaled slowly, deeply, forcing control back into himself before it slipped.
He could not afford to lose it now.
Not here.
Not in front of her.
Not when something about this entire situation felt wrong.
Too convenient.
Too calculated.

<Real Danger–.
Instead of reacting impulsively, he moved-calm, controlled, deliberate-as he walked without a word, heading toward his wardrobe as if her presence on his bed did not affect him at all.
That alone made her pause, in surprise.
Just for a fraction of a second.

“You’re quiet,” Sonia noted, her voice softer now, more observant, as she sat up slightly, watching him with narrowed eyes. “I expected a different reaction.”
Caleb pulled out a shirt, his back still turned to her, his expression unreadable.
“And what reaction was that?” he asked evenly as he slipped the fabric over his shoulders, his tone neutral, almost bored.
Sonia’s smile returned, but this time it was sharper.
“Something less… restrained.”
Caleb buttoned his shirt slowly, taking his time, letting the silence stretch just enough to shift the dynamic, to take back control of the situation without ever raising his voice.
Then he turned.
His gaze met hers again.
Calm.
Measured.
Unmoved.
“You assume too much,” he said simply.
The words were not harsh.
But they carried weight.
Sonia studied him carefully now, as if reassessing, as if trying to read something beneath the surface that he was no longer willing to reveal.
Caleb stepped closer-but not toward the bed.
Toward the armchair nearby, where he casually picked up his jacket, his movements relaxed, unhurried, as if this moment meant far less to him than she intended.
“You said I’ve been avoiding you,” he continued, his tone shifting slightly, becoming more conversational more controlled. “That wasn’t my intention.”
A lie.
A deliberate one.
But necessary.

<Real Danger.
Sonia’s eyes flickered with interest.
“Oh?” she hummed softly. “Then what was your intention?” as she tried again to be seductive.
Caleb held her gaze.
And then-
He played his move.
“Dinner,” he said simply.
