Real Danger-2
Caleb said nothing.
Because this was not surrender.
This was strategy.
Claim
She slid off the bed gracefully, her movements Quid as she stepped closer, stopping just short of him, her eyes searching his face once more.
“Give me a little time to arrange myself,” she said, her voice softer now, almost pleased. “I’ll make sure it’s
worth it.”
Caleb inclined his head slightly.
“Take your time.”
And just like that-
She turned.
And walked out of his room.
The door closed behind her.
Silence fell again.
And the moment-it did-
Caleb’s composure cracked.
“Enough Chaos, I can’t fight you every step of the way,” he growled under his breath, running a hand through his hair as he turned sharply away, tension snapping back into his body like a tightened wire.
Chaos surged forward immediately.
“This is wrong.”
The lycan’s voice was louder now.
More aggressive.
“We have our mate.”
Ї
Caleb exhaled sharply, his chest rising and falling as he forced himself to remain grounded.
“I know,” he muttered, his voice low but firm. “I know.”
“Then why entertain her?” Chaos pushed, restless, furious. “Why play along?”
Caleb stopped pacing, his gaze hardening as his thoughts aligned again.
“Because something isn’t right,” he said, more clearly now, his tone sharpening with certainty. “There’s a

conspiracy here. I can feel it.”
Chaos stilled slightly.
Listening.
“The Council validated her too quickly,” Caleb continued, his brows pulling together as he replayed everything in his mind. “Without the ancient full moon test.”
That alone-
Was wrong.
Dangerously wrong.
“And you know it,” he added quietly.
A pause.
Then Chaos spoke again.
“But Iva knew…”
The words were slower this time.
More thoughtful.
Claim
“She knew we are mates. And she spoke of the red thread of life that she was able to see. This information is only in one secret scroll from the royal archive.”
Caleb’s jaw tightened.
“Yes,” he admitted.
Because that part-
That part he could not ignore.
Only a true fated mate could feel what she had felt.
Only something real could have connected them like that.
す
“I’m inclined to believe her,” he said, his voice lower now, more grounded, more certain. “Because of that.”
Silence followed.
Heavy.
Meaningful.
“And that,” Caleb added after a moment, his eyes darkening slightly, “is exactly why we need to find out more about Sonia.”
Because if Iva was telling the truth-
Then Sonia was lying.

Real Danger-
And if Sonia was lying-
Then this was far bigger than a simple misunderstanding.
Far more dangerous than a rivalry over a bond.
It meant deception.
At the highest level.
Inside the palace itself.
Claim
Caleb’s gaze shifted toward the door Sonia had just walked through, his expression hardening as resolve settled into place.
“Let’s see what game you’re playing…” he murmured quietly.
And this time-
He was ready to play back.
Caleb did not waste time.
