Real Danger-3
And there-
Behind the massive desk, illuminated by the low golden light of the room-
Sat King William Adama.
Waiting.
Claim
“Finally,” the king said, his voice calm, but laced with something sharper beneath as his eyes locked onto Caleb immediately, scanning him, assessing him in a way that made it clear he had already been thinking long and hard before this meeting.
“You are here.”
Caleb inclined his head slightly. “Father.”
But the king did not return the gesture.
Instead, his gaze narrowed ever so slightly, suspicion flickering across his features as he leaned back in
his chair.
“I raised you better than to ignore your mate,” King William continued, his tone measured, but pointed enough to carry weight.
The words landed deliberately.
Caleb felt it.
Still-
He did not react impulsively.
He bit the inside of his lip briefly, grounding himself before answering, his voice calm, diplomatic, carefully controlled.
“Father… I am not ignoring her.”
A beat of silence followed.
Then-
“Really?” the king asked, a faint, ironic edge slipping into his tone as one eyebrow lifted slightly.
Caleb held his gaze.
Unflinching.
“I just invited her for dinner tonight,” he replied evenly. “To get the chance to know her better.”
The shift was immediate.
King William’s brows rose in clear surprise, and for a moment, the tension in the room shifted as a low,

relaxed chuckle left him.

“I knew you would come around,” the king said, leaning back more comfortably now, satisfaction evident
in his voice.
Caleb frowned slightly.
Confusion flickered in his eyes as he studied his father, something about that reaction not sitting right, not aligning with the tension that had been there moments ago.
But before he could question it-
King William continued.
And everything changed.
“Some of my sources,” the king said casually, as if discussing something trivial, though his eyes remained sharp, locked onto Caleb with precision, “were telling me that you are entertaining a she-wolf in the city.”
The words dropped like stones.
Heavy.
Deliberate.
Caleb felt it instantly.
A cold weight settling in his chest.
But he did not move.
Did not react.
Years of training held him in place.
Silent.
Controlled.
Unreadable.
!
“But I told them,” King William went on, a faint smile tugging at his lips, though it carried no warmth, “that you would not be that stupid…”
A pause.
Long enough to suffocate.
“…knowing what is at stake.”
Silence filled the room.
Thick.
Oppressive.

Caleb’s heartbeat slowed.
Not from calm.
From control.
From the effort it took not to let anything show.
But inside-
Something shifted.
Something dark.
Because now-
He knew.
His father knew.
Not everything.
