The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 129

Hts Fiance-1

The sharp ringing of his phone cut through the silence like a blade.

Caleb groaned low under his breath, his brows pulling together as he stirred reluctantly, his body still heavy with sleep, his mind slow to catch up with reality as his hand moved blindly across the sheets in search of the source of the sound.

For a moment-

He didn’t recognize where he was.

The bed felt different.

The space… unfamiliar.

His eyes opened halfway, unfocused, scanning the room in confusion as instinct tried to piece things together.

And then-

Memory hit.

Fast.

Clear.

The penthouse. Returning.

Iva.

The intensity of the night.

Her.

“Iva…” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep as his gaze shifted immediately to the space beside him.

Empty.

Cold.

The sheets slightly wrinkled where she had been-

But she was gone.

Caleb stilled.

Fully awake now.

His jaw tightened slightly as he inhaled slowly, his senses extending instinctively, his lycan sharpening his awareness beyond the physical, searching, reaching-

Nothing.

Horance J

No heartbeat.

No movement.

No presence.

Only the faint, lingering scent of her.

And the undeniable truth-

She had left.

His hand clenched slightly against the mattress.

“Unbelievable…” he muttered under his breath, irritation rising quickly, sharp and immediate.

He pushed himself up, running a hand through his hair as he exhaled in annoyance, his gaze darkening slightly.

Claim

“Why on earth does she keep going back to that meaningless job…” he said aloud, his tone low, frustrated.

It didn’t make sense to him.

Not anymore.

Not after everything that happened between them.

“She’s my mate… for Goddess’ sake.”

The words carried weight.

Possession.

Certainty.

And something dangerously close to impatience.

He shook his head slightly, already making the decision.

“We’re going to have another talk,” he added under his breath, his tone firm. “Because this…. this cannot continue.”

The phone rang again.

Louder this time.

More insistent.

Caleb grabbed it with a sharp motion, his irritation still simmering-until he saw the name on the screen.

His expression shifted instantly.

Controlled.

Focused.

24

Clam

He answered.

“Father.”

The response came-immediately.

And it was not calm.

“Caleb,” King William’s voice cut through the line, sharp and clearly displeased. “For Goddess’ sake, I keep reaching you, but you have your mind link completely blocked off.”

Caleb exhaled slowly, forcing his tone into something more diplomatic.

“My apologies,” he said evenly.

“I presume you are back in the city,” the king continued, his tone still edged, though slightly more measured now. “The butler informed me that you left late last night.”

“I have an important merger and contract signing this morning,” Caleb replied smoothly. “I needed clarity.”

A pause followed.

Then-

A low, unconvinced hum.

“Hmm.”

Caleb’s jaw tightened slightly, but he said nothing.

Then his father spoke again.

And this time-

His tone changed.
