Learning About the Past-1
Iva’s sobs didn’t stop all at once.
They came in waves.
Sharp at first, overwhelming, tearing through her chest like something breaking apart piece by piece, and then slowly… gradually… they softened, turning into quiet sniffles, uneven breaths, the lingering tremble of someone who had cried too much and felt too much.
She stayed in Lori’s arms the entire time.
Clinging to her.
As if she was the only solid thing left in a world that had been shifting under her feet for far too long.
Eventually, her breathing steadied.
Not completely.
But enough.
Iva pulled back slightly, her eyes red, her cheeks damp, her lashes still heavy with tears as she sniffed softly, trying to compose herself.
“I missed you so much, Lori…” she whispered, her voice hoarse, fragile, filled with a deep, aching longing.
Her fingers tightened slightly on Lori’s shirt.
“You’re the only person…” she continued slowly, her gaze dropping for a moment. “… whose absence broke my heart into a million pieces when I had to run away.
Her lips trembled faintly.
“…aside from my mother.”
The words came out softer.
More vulnerable.
Because that wound-
That one-
She had barely allowed herself to touch.
Until now.
す
For weeks, she had pushed everything related to her old pack into the deepest corners of her mind, burying it under survival, under pain, under everything that came after.
Eighteen years.
Eighteen years of her life.

Gone
Cut off.
A
Like it never existed.
And yet-
It still lived inside her.
Lori’s arms tightened around her again, her expression soft but heavy with understanding as she nodded slowly.
“Now I understand,” she said quietly. “Why you left the way you did… and the kind of choices you had to make…”
She exhaled softly.
“Cutting everyone off like that…”
Her gaze shifted slightly, something darker crossing her expression.
“… you weren’t wrong.”
Iva frowned faintly, confusion flickering through her tired eyes as she looked at her.
“What do you mean…?”
Lori hesitated for just a moment.
Then-
She spoke.
“After you left… the Alpha lost it.”
The words landed heavy.
Iva’s body tensed instantly.
“He was unhinged,” Lori continued, her voice tightening slightly as the memory clearly wasn’t pleasant Completely.”
A pause.
“And he used his Alpha command on me.”
Iva’s face went pale immediately.
All color drained from her cheeks as her eyes widened in shock and horror.
“Oh no..” she whispered, her voice trembling as guilt hit her hard and fast. “Lori… I’m so sorry..”
Her hand reached out instinctively, gripping Lori’s arm.
“The pain from an Alpha command… it’s excruciating…”
Shc knew.
Everyone knew.
It wasn’t just control.
It was domination.
Force.
Pain.
Lori shrugged slightly, though the movement was a bit too casual to be entirely real.
“It’s fine, Iva,” she said, her tone dismissive, but her eyes betrayed a flicker of discomfort. “Stop blaming yourself.”
Her expression hardened slightly.
“This is their fault.”
A pause.
Her jaw clenched.
“I still can’t get over it,” she added, her voice lowering with anger. “The fact that the Alpha tried to sell you …practically hand you over to those barbarians from the northern packs…”
Her eyes flashed.
“For a few extra warriors.”
