Unravelling the Truth-2
Silence.
Heavy.
Oppressive.
The kind of silence that comes before violence.
King William’s expression darkened instantly, his aura shifting, growing heavier, more dangerous, more lethal.
For a moment-
It truly looked like he might walk out of that room and start executing people without trial.
And perhaps-
A few hours ago-
He would have.
But now-
His mind was clear.
Fully clear.
And that made him far more dangerous.
“They should be afraid,” the King said slowly, his voice low, controlled, far more terrifying than his earlier rage. “Very afraid.”
Caleb gave a slight nod.
“Yes,” he agreed. “They should.”
The King turned fully toward him now, his gaze calculating despite the fury still simmering beneath the
surface.
“Did you discover anything else?”
Caleb leaned forward slightly, resting his forearms on his knees, his expression focused.
“I did,” he replied.
Another pause.
“The searches we conducted-under the pretense of looking for poison-revealed far more than expected.
The King’s eyes narrowed.

“Go on.”
“We found evidence of communication,” Caleb continued. “Secret exchanges between certain council members and Sonia’s pack
A beat.
“And… other parties.”
“Unknown?” the King asked sharply.
“For now,” Caleb confirmed. “But my analysts are already tracing the electronic trails. We will uncover them all… it is just a matter of time.”
King William hummed lowly, his mind already working, already planning, already calculating
consequences.
“…Good,” he said again, this time with something darker behind it.
Then-
His gaze shifted.
Locked onto Caleb.
“And Sonia?”
The question hung heavier than all the others.
Because this- .
This was personal.
Caleb didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he slowly leaned back again, his posture relaxed, almost too relaxed, as if the storm around him
did not touch him anymore.
But his face-
His face turned to stone.
Cold.
Unforgiving.
And then-
す
Chilling.
Devoid of warmth.
“Immediate death…” Caleb said slowly, his voice low, almost thoughtful. “…would be too easy.”
A smile.

The King’s eyes darkened in understanding.
Caleb’s gaze sharpened.

“I will make an example out of her,” he continued, his tone now carrying a quiet, lethal promise. “One that the entire kingdom will remember.”
A pause.
“So that no one ever forgets…”
His eyes hardened.
“…what happens when they dare to trifle with the Adama.”
King William stood still for a long moment, the storm inside him finally settling-not gone, never gone-but contained, shaped into something colder, sharper, far more dangerous than blind rage.
Then-
Slowly-
He exhaled.
A long, heavy breath that seemed to carry the weight of everything that had just been revealed.
“… The real Messenger…” he muttered, almost to himself, as if the very concept still refused to fully settle in his mind. “I still need to wrap my head around the fact that Sonia… was nothing but a fabrication…”
His jaw tightened again, though this time it was not rage alone-
It was insult.
To his power.
To his legacy.
To his bloodline.
He turned his gaze back to Caleb, searching his son’s face with a mixture of expectation and something deeper… something almost uncertain.
“And what about her?” the King asked, his voice quieter now, yet heavy with meaning. “The real one…”
Caleb stilled.
For just a fraction of a second.
But it was enough.
Because beneath the calm exterior-
A storm ignited.

A burning fire spread through his velns, sharp and consuming, coiling deep within his chest where an ache had taken root and refused to leave.
Iva.
The name alone was enough to tighten something inside him.
The memory of her scent.
Her touch.
Her defiance.
Her leaving.
That last one-
It cut the deepest.
His jaw clenched subtly, the muscle ticking once, twice, before he forced himself back into control, burying everything beneath the surface where it belonged.
Not now.
Not here.
Not in front of his father.
“Don’t worry, father,” Caleb said at last, his voice calm, steady, controlled to perfection.
Too perfect.
Because only he knew the truth behind it.
