The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 291

Council Decission-2

“Will it?” Lori lifted her head, her eyes red-rimmed. “Because right now, it feels like my life is over. Like everything I worked for my reputation, my privacy, my future-is gone.”

Iva squeezed her shoulders.

“Your future isn’t gone,” she said firmly. “It’s just changed. And change is scary. But you’re not alone, Lori. You have Attia. You have me. You have Caleb. We’re all here for you.”

Lori’s eyes filled with tears.

“I don’t know how you do it,” she whispered. “How you handle all the attention, all the pressure. You make it look so easy.”

Iva laughed softly.

“Trust me,” she said. “It’s not easy. I’m just good at pretending.”

They sat together in silence, the weight of the world pressing down on them both.

The news of the mating spread beyond the Academy.

Within days, the gossip columns of every major pack were filled with headlines about the scandal. Attia’s engagement to Monica was dredged up and dissected. Lori’s background was scrutinized and judged. The Scott family’s reaction was analyzed and debated.

The entire supernatural world was obsessed with the story of the Headmaster and the Student.

And in the midst of it all, Lori and Attia tried to hold on to each other.

They spent their evenings in the villa, away from prying eyes. They made love with a passion that bordered on desperation, as if they were trying to prove to themselves that the bond was real, that it couldn’t be broken.

But the outside world refused to leave them alone.

Attia’s family launched a relentless campaign of harassment and sabotage. They spread rumors, leaked documents, and made thinly veiled threats that were carefully worded to avoid legal repercussions.

Monica’s family joined forces with them, using their influence to turn powerful wolves against Attia and Lori.

And the Council, despite their public recognition of the bond, was privately divided. Some members supported the mating. Others believed that Attia had acted recklessly and that the bond should be challenged.

The pressure was unrelenting.

One evening, Lori sat alone in the villa’s living room, staring at the fire.

Attia was in his study, dealing with yet another crisis. His father had managed to freeze the Academy’s Tunding, threatening to shut down several programs unless Attia agreed to renounce the mating, their latest desperate measure.

Lori felt helpless.

She had tried to be strong. Had tried to be the mate that Attia deserved. But the constant attacks, the relentless pressure, the endless stream of obstacles-it was wearing her down.

She heard footsteps behind her.

Attia entered the room, his face lined with exhaustion.

“They’re threatening the scholarship program,” he said, his voice hollow. “If I don’t break the bond by the end of the month, they’ll withdraw all funding. Dozens of students will lose their education.”

Lori’s heart sank.

“What are you going to do?” she asked.

Attia sank onto the couch beside her, his head falling into his hands.

“I don’t know,” he admitted. “I don’t know how to fix this.”

Lori reached over and took his hand.

“Then we’ll figure it out together,” she said softly.

Attia looked at her, his dark eyes full of love and fear.

“I can’t lose you,” he said. “I can’t.”

“You won’t,” Lori promised. “Whatever it takes, we will find a way.”

She leaned in and kissed him-softly, gently, with all the love she had to give.

Outside, the wind howled, shaking the windows.

But inside, they held onto each other.

And they refused to let go.

The long awaited letter finally arrived.

Lori held out the envelope.
