The helicopter descended through the golden afternoon light, the roar of the blades drowning out everything except the pounding of Iva’s heart. Below them, the island of Capri unfolded like a jewel-cliffs of white limestone plunging into turquoise waters, terraced gardens bursting with bougainvillea, and nestled among it all, a villa that seemed to have grown from the rock itself.
Iva pressed her face to the window, her breath catching. The sea sparkled below, impossibly blue, and the coastline was dotted with charming villages and rolling hills. The scent of salt and Mediterranean flowers drifted through the cabin, intoxicating and foreign.
“Caleb,” she whispered. “It’s… it’s like a dream.”
Caleb’s arm wrapped around her, pulling her close. His lips brushed her ear, his voice low and warm, sending shivers down her spine.
“Wait until you see the bedroom.”
She shivered at his words, a thrill running down her spine. The weeks of fear, the constant vigilance, the weight of her duties-all of it fell away, leaving only this moment. Only him.
The helicopter touched down on a private helipad overlooking the sea. A servant in crisp white linen greeted them, but Caleb waved him away with a dismissive gesture. He took Iva’s hand and led her through the villa’s winding paths, past fountains and sculptures and gardens bursting with color. The sound of water trickling from ancient stone fountains mixed with the distant cry of seabirds.
The villa was a masterpiece of ancient stone and modern luxury. Arched windows looked out over the sea, their frames draped in white curtains that billowed in the warm breeze. The floors were polished marble, cool beneath Iva’s bare feet as she kicked off her shoes. The walls were adorned with frescoes depicting scenes from mythology-gods and goddesses locked in eternal embraces.
Caleb led her to the master suite.
The room was vast, dominated by a bed draped in ivory silk. French doors opened onto a private terrace, where the sun was beginning its slow descent toward the horizon. The air was filled with the scent of jasmine and salt, and the distant sound of waves crashing against the cliffs below.
Iva turned to face him.

Her heart was pounding, her skin flushed with anticipation. Her body ached with a familiar heat, a need that had been building for weeks. She reached up and touched his face, her fingers tracing the strong line of his jaw.
“Are you ready?” he asked, his voice low and rough.
Iva’s smile was slow, wicked.
“I’ve been ready for this since the moment I met you,” she said.
Caleb’s control snapped.
He kissed her fiercely, his hands tangling in her hair, pulling her against him. His mouth was demanding, possessive, consuming. She responded with equal passion, her fingers gripping his shoulders, her nails

digging into his flesh through the thin fabric of his shirt. Her body pressed into his, desperate for contact.
He walked her backward toward the bed, his mouth never leaving hers. His hands roamed her body, gripping her hips, her waist, her breasts. She moaned against his lips, her body arching into his touch.
When the backs of her knees hit the mattress, he laid her down gently, his body covering hers. The silk sheets were cool against her heated skin, a contrast that made her gasp.
“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured against her neck. “So perfect.”
His lips traced a path down her throat, across her collarbone, to the swell of her breasts. She arched beneath him, her hands tangling in his hair, pulling him closer.
“I want you,” she breathed. “I want all of you.”
Caleb’s smile was slow, devastating.
