Confession-T
The silence between them thickened until it felt like breathing through water.
Caleb had not moved away.
–
If anything, he seemed more present more focused as though every second she hesitated only sharpened his attention. His gaze did not leave her face. Not once.
Iva could feel the pressure building around her like an invisible vice.
Her fingers curled against the fabric of her clothes, nails digging faintly into her palms. The thread between them pulsed again – bright, insistent, impossible to ignore.
“Avalon… what do we do?”
Her wolf did not answer immediately.
That alone terrified her.
“If he believes it is magic,” Iva whispered internally, panic creeping into every thought, “he will think we are manipulating him. That we are a threat. And the last thing that we want is a scorned lycan.”
Avalon stirred uneasily beneath her skin.
“But if we tell him…”
The unspoken outcome hung between them like a blade.
Rejection.
From a lycan.
From an Adama.
From a prince who could erase her existence with a single word if he chose.
“I don’t know,” Avalon admitted at last, voice tight with conflict. “This is not a normal bond. He does not feel it the way we do… or he hides it. Either truth is dangerous.”
Caleb took a slow step closer.
Not threatening.
But commanding.
The air seemed to shift with him. His aura that immense, suffocating presence-pressed harder against her senses. It wasn’t deliberate intimidation. It was simply what he was.
Power contained within flesh.
“What are you not telling me?” he asked quietly.
Her throat tightened.

“Nothing,” she said, but even she could hear how fragile the word sounded.
His eyes darkened slightly.

“You tremble,” he observed. “Your pulse accelerates whenever I approach. Your scent shifts between fear and-”
He stopped.
A flicker of something unreadable crossed his face.
Then his voice lowered further.
“And something else.”
Her breath hitched.
He senses his effect on us… the arousal that we can’t control…
The realization sent a shock of heat through her chest.
“I asked you if you were a hybrid,” Caleb continued. “You deny it. I asked if you were sent by someone. You deny that too.”
Another step closer.
The distance between them was now almost nonexistent.
“Then explain,” he demanded annoyed.
The pressure of his aura intensified – not aggressive, but overwhelming in its certainty. Like gravity demanding surrender.
Her chest tightened painfully.
Her vision blurred at the edges.
She could not breathe.
“Avalon…”
Her wolf surged forward, protective and restless.
“He is pushing,” Avalon warned. “He does not realize the effect of his dominance.”
Iva’s thoughts spiraled.
If she stayed silent, he would not let this go.
If she lied, he would know.
If she spoke…
Her heart pounded violently.
Caleb’s voice cut through the storm inside her.

“Who are you, Iva?”
Not angry.
Not harsh.
But absolute.
Her composure cracked.
“I told you,” she said, voice shaking despite her effort, “I’m no one.”
His gaze sharpened.
“That is a lie. Stop stalling and start talking,”
The words were quiet.
Final.
