Wild Thoughts-1

Iva stirred slowly, as if her body had been dragged back to consciousness rather than waking naturally. Everything ached.
Not sharp pain-just the deep exhaustion that followed emotional collapse.
Her eyelids felt heavy when she finally forced them open. For several seconds she stared blankly at the unfamiliar ceiling, her mind struggling to reconnect with reality.
Where…
Her gaze drifted slowly around the room.
The soft neutral walls.
The enormous window framed by thick curtains.
The elegant furniture that looked like it belonged in a luxury magazine.
Then memory returned like a sudden tide.
Caleb’s penthouse.
The broken hostel room.
The tears she could no longer hold back.
The couch.
She blinked again, confused.
“…Wait.”
Her head lifted slightly from the pillow.
She was not on the couch.
She was in the guest bedroom.
Her brow furrowed as she pushed herself up on her elbows, wincing slightly when her muscles protested.
“What…?”
Her voice sounded rough.
“Avalon?” she whispered internally.
The wolf inside her stirred lazily.
“Hmm?”
“What happened? We are in the bedroom.”

Avalon’s tone carried unmistakable amusement.
“I don’t think we sleepwalked here.”
Iva blinked.
“…We didn’t?”
“No.”
A pause.
Then the wolf added with smug certainty.
“Mate brought us here.”
Iva froze.
Her heart immediately kicked into a frantic rhythm.
“He what?!”
Avalon gave a low mental chuckle.

“You collapsed on the couch like a wounded deer, Iva. What did you expect him to do? Leave you there?”
“He absolutely could have left me there!” Iva whispered urgently, pressing a hand over her face.
Avalon snickered.
“He is our mate.”
“Avalon-”
“He may not admit it yet,” the wolf continued calmly, “but the bond knows.”
Iva’s stomach twisted.
“He probably just didn’t want a crying girl passed out on his furniture.”
“Or,” Avalon countered lightly, “he wanted to take care of us.”
“That is not the same thing.”
“It is when instinct is involved.”
Iva groaned softly and dropped her head back onto the pillow.
“Avalon… this is a disaster.”
“How dramatic.”
“We are not okay!”
She threw the blanket aside and sat up, running a hand through her messy hair before immediately
freezing.

Her nose wrinkled.
“Oh Moon Goddess…”
Avalon hummed curiously.
Iva lifted the edge of her shirt and sniffed cautiously.
Then she grimaced.
“We smell.”
Avalon burst into amused laughter.
“We do not smell that bad.”
“We’ve been in these clothes for two days!”
“Three,” Avalon corrected helpfully.
Iva’s eyes widened in horror.
“Oh my God.”
She buried her face in her hands.
“He definitely thinks we’re disgusting.”
Avalon scoffed.
“Highly unlikely.”
“Any man would!”
“Not our mate.”

“He’s a prince, Avalon! He probably has women who smell like expensive perfume and look like they stepped out of a fashion show!”
“And yet,” Avalon purred smugly, “he carried you to bed.”
Iva groaned louder.
“That does not help!”
She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood carefully, stretching her sore limbs. Her body still felt heavy from the previous day’s emotional collapse.
Her eyes drifted to the digital clock on the bedside table.
She froze.
“… You’ve got to be kidding me.”
