The black SUV stopped so abruptly outside the restaurant that the tires gave a faint protesting screech against the pavement.

The moment his feet touched the ground, his senses expanded automatically, scanning the surroundings with the predatory precision that had been drilled into him since childhood. The street smelled of rain-soaked asphalt, fried food drifting from nearby shops, and the constant hum of the city.

But beneath it all-

He searched for one scent.

Lilac.

His jaw tightened.

Not here.

Which meant she was still inside.

Without wasting another second, he pushed through the restaurant doors.

The warm noise of the lunch rush flooded over him instantly. Voices, clattering plates, hurried footsteps, the smell of spices and grilled meat – the usual chaos of a busy restaurant.

But the moment the staff noticed him, the noise faltered.

A ripple moved through the room.

Because everyone recognized him.

The owner.

The Crown Prince.

Sergio appeared from behind the counter almost immediately, his face filled with confusion and surprise as he hurried forward.

“Your Highness-”

But Caleb had no patience for greetings.

No patience for titles.

No patience for polite conversation.

“Where is Iva?”

The question landed like a blade cutting through the air.

Sergio blinked.

For a moment the man looked completely speechless.

His mouth opened slightly before closing again as he struggled to process the situation.

Because the Crown Prince of the Lycans… had just asked about the dishwasher?

“-” Sergio cleared his throat-awkwardly. “She wasn’t feeling well, so gave her the rest of the day off.”

Caleb’s eyes darkened instantly.

His voice dropped, sharp and controlled.

“I asked you where she is, not what you did.”

The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.

Sergio swallowed.

Then he raised a hand and pointed toward the back hallway. A

“The restrooms.”

That was all Caleb needed.

He turned without another word and strode toward the corridor, his steps long and fast, ignoring the curious looks following him.

His heartbeat had already begun to pick up speed.

Chaos stirred restlessly beneath his skin.

Mate.

“Quiet,” Caleb muttered under his breath.

The hallway felt narrower than usual.

Too slow.

Too long.

He reached the restroom door and pushed it open.

And then-

He froze.

The scent hit him like a physical blow.

Lilac.

Soft.

Sweet.

And underneath it-

Heat.

Ragging Fue-

Raw.

Unmistakable.

The effect on his body was immediate.

Instant.

His lungs expanded sharply as the scent flooded his senses, burning through his control like wildfire through dry grass.

For a second the world tilted.

His muscles tightened.

His blood surged violently through his veins.

And Chaos exploded inside his mind.

MATE.

The roar of his inner Lycan echoed through his skull with primal force.

Caleb’s hand slammed against the doorframe as he fought to steady himself.

“Damn it…”

He had smelled females in heat before.

Many times.

Lycans were not strangers to such things.

Normally, it was easy enough to keep his instincts in check.

Control was second nature to him.

But this-

This was something else entirely.

And his body reacted with ruthless honesty.

Desire surged through him like a lightning strike.

Hot.

Primitive.

Unrelenting.

His jaw clenched.
