She needed help.

Not a predator.

“Iva.”

Caleb’s voice was low, controlled, but it carried through the small restroom with unmistakable authority.

Inside the cubicle there was a sudden stillness.

For a moment he heard nothing except the frantic pounding of his own heartbeat and the wild growl of Chaos pressing against his restraint.

Then her voice came from the other side of the door.

Small.

Shaken.

“Your Highness…?”

The sound of his name on her lips did absolutely nothing to help his control.

His jaw tightened harder.

“Open the door.”

There was a pause.

He could hear her uneven breathing, the faint rustle of fabric as she shifted.

“I… I’m sorry,” she whispered weakly. “I didn’t know who else to call.”

The apology twisted something unpleasant in his chest.

“Open the door, Iva.”

The latch clicked.

The door moved slowly.

And when it opened-

Caleb’s breath caught.

She looked exhausted.

Her cheeks were flushed deep pink, her hair clung slightly to her temples with sweat, and her hazel eyes looked glassy and overwhelmed.

Her body trembled visibly.

She gasped softly, gripping the cubicle wall as a sharp cramp seemed to twist through her abdomen.

“I… I’m trying to control it, she murmured-breathlessly.

The scent of her heat surged stronger now that the door was open.

Caleb’s control groaned under the strain.

Chaos roared inside him.

His entire body went rigid.

He took a slow breath through his nose, immediately regretting it.

The scent was intoxicating.

Dangerous.

He stepped forward before she could say another word.

“Come on. Let’s go.”

His voice had gone deeper.

Rougher.

He reached for her arm carefully.

The moment his hand touched her skin-

Electricity shot up his arm.

Iva flinched slightly as another wave of pain rippled through her body.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered again.

“Stop apologizing,” he muttered.

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, steadying her as she stumbled slightly,

Her body felt far too warm against his side.

And far too soft.

Every step they took toward the exit was a test of his discipline.

Her scent surrounded him.

Wrapped around him.

Invaded every breath.

They emerged from the hallway back into the restaurant.

And immediately every wolf in the room felt it.

Heads turned.

Noses lifted.

Confusion rippled through the staff as the faint scent reached them.

Sergio’s eyes widened as he took in the sight of Caleb holding Iva upright.

Then the realization struck him.

Hard.

His expression shifted from confusion to stunned understanding.

“Your Highness-”

But Caleb didn’t stop.

Didn’t slow.

“Clear the area,” he ordered coldly.

The authority in his voice was absolute.

No one argued.

No one moved to interfere.

He guided Iva out of the restaurant as quickly as possible, her steps uneven as another wave of heat made her wince softly.

Once inside the car, the SUV launched into motion.

The ride back to the penthouse felt like torture.

Iva curled slightly in the seat beside him, her arms wrapped around herself as tremors passed through her body.

Occasionally a soft gasp escaped her lips when another wave of pain struck.

Each sound sent another spike of heat through Caleb’s system.

His knuckles had turned white around the edge of the seat.

Chaos was losing patience.

But control was slipping.

Every breath filled his lungs with her scent.

Every small movement beside him made his body react.

The drive felt endless.

When the car finally slid into the underground parking of the penthouse, Caleb was already opening the door before the engine fully stopped.

He didn’t wait for her to move.

He simply scooped her up into his arms.

Iva gasped softly in surprise, her arms instinctively gripping his shirt.

“I can try walk-”

“No.”

The single word left no room for argument.

He carried her straight into the elevator.
