The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114: Wife, I’m a Wolf

Primrose finally calmed down after sipping some warm tea and munching through half a jar of cookies.

She wasn’t even sure if she was eating because she was still sad or simply because she was hungry.

Edmund was sitting on the same sofa as her, but for some reason, he sat all the way on the other side, as if he didn’t dare to sit too close to his own wife in front of his father-in-law.

If Lazarus weren’t here, Primrose was sure Edmund would have already asked for a welcome kiss.

"Father," Primrose spoke up again once she had swallowed the cookie in her mouth. "Did you come here without anyone’s knowledge?"

Lazarus hadn’t yet told Primrose about the Emperor’s order forbidding him from seeing his daughter.

However, she could already guess it.

He hadn’t arrived at the palace with their family carriage, and in fact, Primrose hadn’t seen him bring much luggage either, as if he had come here in a rush.

That wasn’t like him at all.

Lazarus was the kind of person who always planned everything carefully, sometimes weeks ahead of time.

Normally, she would have expected him to send a letter first.

"Why do you ask that?" Lazarus sighed deeply. "Now you’re going to worry even more because of me."

Primrose quickly said, "No! I ... I just want to know! I just want to be able to predict when you’ll have to return to Illvaris."

"Father has to return to Illvaris before sunrise," Edmund added suddenly.

Primrose frowned.

Since when had her husband started calling him ’Father’ too?

Not that she minded—it was actually kind of sweet—but she needed a moment to get used to it.

"Why?" Primrose asked.

This time, Lazarus answered for himself. "The Emperor forbade me from seeing you, Rosie. That’s why I couldn’t visit you, even if I wanted to."

"I thought about telling you through a letter, but ... I didn’t want to make you sad."

So that was why, in her first life, Lazarus had only told her the painful truth months later.

Before she found out, she had thought her father didn’t want to see her anymore.

"That’s so cruel!" Even though Primrose already knew about it, her heart still hurt hearing it again.

She stood up from the couch and sat down on the floor, hugging her father’s legs tightly. "Why can’t I see you again?!"

"Rosie! The floor is cold!"

"Wife! The floor is cold!"

Both of them shouted at her at the same time, startling her slightly.

Edmund quickly lifted her off the ground, while Lazarus gave up his seat so she could sit down instead.

She had only sat on the floor! It wasn’t even that cold!

The tears that had been about to fall from her eyes suddenly dried up because she was too stunned by how fast they had moved her from the floor to the sofa.

She blinked a few times, glancing between them as they stood there, staring at her like she might break.
