The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1150

“Got it,” Jackson answered, then paused before adding, “Charlotte, do you need backup?”

There was no way the Hawk family would just hand over the genetic research institute. Going back to the Isle of Veil this time was definitely going to be a battle.

“Have them ready, but I doubt we’ll need them,” Charlotte replied, her voice cool and steady. The corners of her mouth curled into a confident, almost cocky smile. “That’s it. See you at the airport tomorrow.”

As soon as she finished talking, Anthony ended the call and put his phone aside. He was about to say something when the phone buzzed again. This time, it was Patricia.

“It’s a video call from Grandma,” Anthony said quietly, glancing at Charlotte. “Should I answer?”

“Yeah.” Charlotte nodded. She hadn’t spoken to Patricia in ages, and a wave of guilt washed over her.

A moment later, the call connected. Patricia’s gentle, kind face filled the screen, and the second she spotted Charlotte, her whole face lit up with happiness.

“Lottie!”

“Grandma.” Charlotte smiled politely. “How have you been lately?”

“I’m doing great, don’t worry about me.” Patricia chatted for a bit, then finally got to the real reason she called. “Lottie, I heard your parents are back in the country?”

Anthony had already explained the details to the Blair family.

“Yes.”

“Hmm, I see.” Patricia twisted her hands together, looking a little nervous. She spoke with a hint of seriousness. “I was thinking, our families haven’t formally met yet. Maybe we could all get together for dinner, get to know each other better, and… maybe start talking about the wedding.”

“The wedding?” Charlotte’s brows knitted together. This was happening way too fast.

“An engagement would work, too,” Patricia rushed to say, excitement bubbling in her voice.

Anthony didn’t say a word. He just watched Charlotte, eyes steady and full of hope. He wanted nothing more than to go from boyfriend to fiancé.

“Grandma…” Charlotte bit her lip, her voice soft and apologetic. “My mom isn’t well right now. Can we wait a little before meeting up?”

“Zoe, Charlotte left something with me and forgot to give it to you. Could you come pick it up?”

“Charlotte?” Zoe’s eyes sparkled, thinking it must be something valuable. “Where are you?” she asked, barely hiding her excitement.

“By the main entrance, to the left.” The man’s voice sounded smooth but cold. “It’s something pretty valuable. Please come get it as soon as you can.”

“Okay, okay, I’m coming right now.”

Zoe hung up, grinning, and turned to Morton.

“Didn’t Charlotte just leave?” Morton frowned, staying put. “If she had something for us, she would’ve given it to us before.”

“What if she really forgot? Didn’t you hear him? He said it’s worth a lot…”

Zoe ignored Charlotte’s warning not to wander off and tugged Morton along, hurrying toward the exit.
