The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1237

“…So what if I am flirting?”

Charlotte rested her cheek against Anthony’s chest, her fingers slipping through his until their hands were laced together. Her eyes were half-lidded, her whole vibe relaxed but teasing.

“What do you think?”

Anthony’s lips curled into a small, knowing smile. His hand on her waist pulled her closer, and his voice was low as he whispered in her ear, “Look at you, asking like you’re totally innocent. Seriously, you have no conscience.”

“I know I don’t,” Charlotte shot back, grinning, her tone bold and playful. “You took it with you, remember?”

Up in the front seat, Jackson and Adonis spun around, staring at Charlotte like she’d just spoken in a foreign language. They caught each other’s gaze, then quickly looked away, pretending they hadn’t heard a thing.

Did the ruthless and decisive Charlotte just say something like that? Completely unreal.

They finally pulled up at home.

“Alright then,” Anthony said, not even a little bit surprised. In fact, he looked happier than ever. “I’ll take extra good care of it for you.”

Jackson and Adonis exchanged another look, both at a loss for words.

No wonder people say love makes you stupid.

At the hotel, Charlotte was stretched out on the couch after her shower. She had a bottle of warm milk in one hand and her phone in the other, bracing herself as Franco and Nora unleashed a storm of questions.

Franco’s lecture died right there. Instead, pride and joy bubbled up inside him. So this was what it felt like to be needed by Charlotte. It was honestly the best feeling ever.

“That’s right. My daughter isn’t going to suffer, not even a little bit.”

Franco puffed up with pride, instantly taking her side. “If anyone even tries to mess with you, I’ll risk everything. I’d go to war with the world if I had to.”

He barely finished speaking before a sharp slap and Nora’s furious voice blasted through the phone. “Can you not? This is not the time for empty promises. If something actually happened to Lottie, all your talk wouldn’t change a thing. She totally gets her recklessness from you—afraid of nothing and no one.”

“Alright, alright, I get it. My bad,” Franco said, already surrendering as he tried to soothe Nora. He managed a half-hearted scolding for Charlotte. “Don’t just go charging in on your own next time. If something’s up, let us know first, okay? You scared your mom half to death. When she heard you’d gone to the Isle of Veil, she nearly fainted.”

They both knew just how much the antidote meant to the Hawk family.
