The general manager glanced nervously at Charlotte, trying not to flinch when her sharp eyes met his.
“Relax. It’s fine,” Patricia said, her brows knitting as she turned to the manager. Her tone was gentle but held a warmth that made it clear she was spoiling Charlotte. “Whatever Charlotte wants to eat, just bring it out. Make sure she’s happy. Price doesn’t matter.”
Lottie was already dealing with so much being pregnant. Honestly, if she asked for the moon, someone would have to figure out how to get it for her.
“Anne,” Patricia said, her gaze locking onto Anne with authority. “Go ahead and put ten million in The Oak & Vine’s account first.”
“No problem.” Anne nodded and smiled, already getting ready to take care of it.
The manager still seemed lost and just kept glancing back at Charlotte for further instructions.
“Anne, hold on,” Charlotte jumped in, stopping Anne before she could leave. She gave a small smile. “You don’t need to deposit anything.”
“Yes, we do,” Patricia insisted, her brows tightening even more as she looked at Charlotte. All her affection was written on her face and there was no attempt to hide it. “Don’t stress. Money is not an issue for me.”
“That’s not what I meant.” Charlotte touched her nose, a little embarrassed, and quietly explained, “I don’t have to pay when I eat at The Oak & Vine.”
There was a pause, and Patricia looked at her, then at the manager in confusion.
“The Oak & Vine belongs to me,” Charlotte said, revealing it simply.
“It’s yours?” Patricia was stunned, still trying to process it.
“Yes, Patricia,” the general manager said with obvious relief and respect, bowing a little. “Charlotte is the sole owner of The Oak & Vine. She never needs to pay.”
“And please refund everything Grandma has spent here before. From now on, all her meals are free,” Charlotte added softly but firmly. “That’ll be all.”
She thought she’d seen them at the proposal the other day, but with the lighting and the excitement, she hadn’t managed a good look.
Feeling Patricia’s stare, Shirley and Stella both stiffened with nerves.
“Grandma, this is Shirley,” Charlotte explained, settling in beside Patricia and letting her hold her hand. Her voice was gentle as she spoke, “She’s my friend from high school. We were classmates, and now she’s studying physics at The Cabinda University. She’s Mr. Lane’s student.”
Shirley. The name sounded so familiar to Patricia. She studied Shirley closely.
Shirley wore a white polo, black jeans, and white flats. Her hair was pulled up neatly, showing off a pale, smooth forehead. Her face was delicate and her skin was flawless, her big eyes bright and almost sparkling with feeling.
She had the look of someone sweet, the kind of girl who was always well-behaved.
But that name—Shirley. Where had she heard it? Patricia thought back and realized Andrew had mentioned her at the proposal.
