The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1643

“Hello, Grandma!”

Before Patricia had a chance to respond, Pandora rushed forward with an eager smile, looking as sweet and charming as she could. “My name’s Pandora, I—”

“Stop right there.”

Patricia’s eyebrows drew together at once as Pandora tried to get closer, the displeasure on her face impossible to miss.

“Sorry, Pandora,” Anne cut in quickly, guiding Patricia toward the couch. “Patricia has sensitive lungs, she can’t handle strong perfume.”

Pandora froze, startled. She quickly sniffed at herself and her smile faded. She’d gone to a lot of trouble with her outfit today, hoping to make a good impression on Patricia. The perfume she’d used cost more than most people’s cars.

“Mom!”

As soon as Patricia sat down, Dorothy got up and pulled Pandora over, her smile bright and welcoming. “This is Gallagher’s granddaughter. She came to one of our parties as a kid. You remember that, don’t you?”

The Byron family?

“Gallagher and I both serve on The Cabinda University board. Of course I know him,” Patricia replied, sipping her tea. Then she looked right at Pandora. “As for her…”

Pandora’s eyes lit up, hopeful.

“I don’t remember her at all.”

Her voice was flat, every word as cold as ice, and Pandora felt it hit her all at once.

“That’s understandable. Patricia is older now and I was just a kid back then. It’s normal not to remember,” Pandora offered, forcing a smile as she lifted her chin.

Patricia paused mid-sip. Anne shot Pandora a worried look, her brows furrowing.

Did this girl really just call Patricia old out loud? How could she not know how to talk to people?
