Samantha sobbed openly, pulling Stella into a fierce hug. She was ranting, threatening to drag every single internet troll who insulted Stella into a courtroom. Stella sat quietly, a suffocating ache spreading through her chest.
"Don't you worry, Stella," Samantha said, wiping her face. "I won't let anyone walk all over you." She looked up at Charlotte. "Lottie, screenshot every nasty comment. We're suing them all. One by one."
Charlotte’s gaze was glacial. "The online situation is already handled. Every account that targeted Stella has been permanently banned. Anyone who registered with their real name will never be allowed on Twitter again."
"Good," Samantha snapped. "And what about that Veronica woman? She orchestrated this, didn't she? Don't let her off the hook!"
Stella's eyelashes fluttered. She remembered hearing Hans and Charlotte talking about Veronica Ham at the hospital. She was Roger's college classmate and colleague. Rumor had it she gave up a prestigious job just to follow him to Cabinda. Veronica came from a wealthy family of medical examiners. The malicious online comments had hit Stella where it hurt the most, and she knew most people probably agreed with Veronica's assessment.
"I'll take care of it," Charlotte said evenly, offering no details but leaving Samantha reassured. Not wanting to crowd Stella, Charlotte slipped out to find Anthony.
He had refused to leave since arriving yesterday, but since Stella wasn't ready to see any men, Charlotte had been forced to hide him in a guest room. The second she pushed the door open, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a broad, warm chest.
"Is Samantha here?" Anthony asked, his voice rough as he held her from behind, pressing his lips to the curve of her neck.
"Yeah," Charlotte murmured, shifting uncomfortably. "Stay put. I need to make something for Stella to eat. She barely touched her last meal."
