The register office.
Roger got out of the car first, walked around to the other side, and opened the door, carefully supporting the dizzy girl.
"We're here."
Hearing the familiar voice, Stella instinctively leaned into him. She tilted her face up and asked groggily, "Where?"
She wasn't completely drunk, but she wasn't sober either.
She felt entirely weightless; if no one held her, she would definitely fall.
"The register office."
Roger wrapped an arm around her waist, guiding her inside as he explained softly, "Didn't you promise to marry me?"
"Oh."
Stella rubbed her eyes, the corners tinted a light pink. She nuzzled her forehead against his chest, mumbling, "I want to sleep."
She was a good drunk. Even tipsy, she was perfectly well-behaved.
"As soon as we're done here, I'll take you to get some rest."
Roger coaxed her gently. Glancing at the time, he simply picked her up in his arms and headed straight for the marriage registration desk.
"Roger, it's been a while."
The clerk knew Roger, and since he had called ahead, the man greeted them enthusiastically.
"It has."
Roger replied smoothly, setting Stella down on a nearby chair.
As soon as she sat, she propped her chin on her hand and rubbed her eyes again.
She didn't look quite right.
Sleepy?
Roger took the folder from his driver and pulled out the documents one by one, lining them up neatly.
He had figured out exactly what was needed for a marriage long ago.
"The paperwork looks perfect."
The clerk flipped through the documents and smiled. "Shall we... go through the formalities?"
"Yes."
Roger nodded, resting his left hand on the desk, which Stella immediately leaned against.
So tired.
She was really, really tired.
She could barely keep her eyes open.
"Mr. Roger, are you marrying Stella of your own free will?"
"Yes."
Roger nodded without a second thought.
The clerk looked slightly embarrassed. "Did you bring photos?"
Photos?
Roger hadn't thought of that.
He couldn't exactly conjure up a couple's portrait without the bride being present.
"If you don't have them, we can take them here," the clerk kindly offered.
"Thanks."
Roger wrapped his arm around Stella and led her to the adjacent photo booth.
They were such a stunning couple that they didn't even need to prep; any casual shot would look like a magazine cover.
"Give me a smile. Picture time."
Hearing Roger's voice, Stella dazedly pulled her lips into a smile. With a loud click, the photo was taken.
The two of them took the photos and went back to the desk.
"Please fill out these forms, and then sign at the bottom."
Stella had no energy, so Roger filled out all the information for her.
He only made her do the final signature herself.
After an hour and a half of running around, the official stamp finally slammed down on their red marriage certificates.
