The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 509

“He’ll be fine,” Jackson said, almost bored. “Those guys didn’t even stand a chance against him.”

“Alright.” Charlotte’s voice was icy, the kind that made people shiver even if the room was warm. “Call the police. Then take me to the hospital.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Jackson quickly dialed the police. When he hung up, he hesitated for a second, then quietly scrolled to Anthony’s name and pressed call.

Nobody wanted to mess with Charlotte. And her boyfriend? He wasn’t someone you wanted to cross, either.

Anthony arrived at the hospital and spotted Charlotte in the emergency room. She was leaning against the wall, her whole posture relaxed, her injured hand resting on the table like it was nothing. Her face was blank, eyes calm.

“This might hurt a little, Charlotte. Try to bear with it,” the doctor said softly.

“Okay.”

“If it’s too much, you can cry. Really.”

Charlotte lifted her eyes, a lazy smile tugging at her lips. “Go ahead. Just be quick, alright? I’m in a hurry.”

The doctor glanced at her again. She looked delicate, like someone who’d never had a rough day in her life. But there was nothing fragile about her, not really. That kind of toughness was rare.

Her hand had been scraped, dirt and tiny bits of gravel still stuck in the wound. It needed to be cleaned out before they could do anything else. That part always hurt the most.

“I’m starting now.” The doctor gave her a heads-up, then dabbed alcohol on her hand, watching her face for any sign of pain.

She didn’t even flinch. It was like her hand belonged to someone else.

By the time he went in for a second round, the trash can was already filling up with bloody tissues and used gauze. The sight was enough to make anyone queasy.
