The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 512

“If you do this to me, your parents won’t let you get away with it!” Jesse was sprawled on the floor, clutching his bleeding arm, his face twisted with pain and rage.

Parents? The word made something cold flicker in Charlotte’s eyes.

“Steven can’t even save himself. He’s not coming for you.” Her grip tightened on the fruit knife. She stared Jesse down, her eyes red and clear, lips curling into a mocking smile. “As for my mom… she’s been dead for years. Want to go join her?”

Go join her? The color drained from Jesse’s face, leaving him almost ghostly. Was she really going to kill him?

“What’s got you so scared?” Charlotte’s voice dripped with contempt. She ripped the knife free, her words sharp and icy. “I’m not going to kill you.”

Jesse was shaking, sweat pouring down his forehead. He looked at her like she was some kind of monster, dragging himself backward inch by inch.

“What are you going to do? Charlotte, what do you want? You’re crazy!”

She’d already broken his hands and ruined his legs. Wasn’t that enough?

“I told you. I’m just finishing what you started.” Charlotte took a step closer, then another. Jesse kept scrambling back until he hit the wall, desperation written all over his face.

“Please, have mercy. Let me go, I’ll do anything.”

“I’m your uncle, Charlotte, I swear, I know I was wrong. Just please…”

Charlotte’s face stayed blank, her voice flat. “Funny. I remember begging you to let me go, just like this.”

Jesse fell silent, mouth open but no sound coming out.

“If I hadn’t gotten hold of that fruit knife…” Her lashes lowered, shadows clouding her eyes. “Would you have let me go?”
