Anthony turned on the faucet and soaked a washcloth in warm water, gently pressing it to Charlotte’s puffy eyes.
“There you go,” he said softly, planting a quick kiss on the tip of her nose. His gaze drifted over the bruises and marks on her skin, and his jaw tightened. “I promise, I’ll take it easy next time.”
Next time?
Charlotte had heard enough. Without warning, she leaned in and bit him, hard, right on the shoulder.
After they finished getting cleaned up, it was nearly five in the afternoon.
Anthony held Charlotte’s hand as they walked out of the room. The second the door opened, Jackson and Adonis stood up straight, curiosity written all over their faces.
Charlotte had slept the whole day, barely touching any food or water. They’d never seen her like this before. Both of them looked her up and down.
She was wearing a plain white T-shirt, her long hair falling over her shoulders and covering her neck. She’d paired it with loose, comfy pants. Charlotte pressed herself close to Anthony, looking tired and worn out.
Adonis frowned, glancing over at Jackson. “You don’t think Charlotte actually got hurt fighting with Anthony yesterday, do you?” he whispered. Something about her just seemed off today.
Jackson didn’t say a word, but there was something knowing in his eyes.
At the dining table, everyone ate in silence.
Then Charlotte absentmindedly tucked her hair behind her ear. A dark red mark on her neck instantly caught everyone’s attention. It looked serious.
Adonis’s eyes widened.
Was that a hickey?
He was completely thrown. Charlotte had come here for revenge. How did she end up with a hickey instead? Judging by the look of it, Anthony hadn’t held back at all.
