The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 847

“Kill me?”

For a moment, the room went silent. Newell leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and flashed a confident smirk. “She looks so sweet and harmless. Do you really think she could pull off something that bloody?”

If Charlotte really had the guts to go after him because of Anthony… well, for every hit he took, he’d just pay Anthony back. He might not be able to touch Charlotte, but Anthony was fair game.

“Oh, by the way…” Newell’s lips curled as a sly smile broke across his striking face. He pushed down the bitterness churning inside. “Sir, do you know this young lady?”

Anthony turned his head, fixing Newell with a cold stare. He didn’t say a word, but the chill in the air was enough to suffocate anyone nearby. He might as well have “Charlotte is mine” written across his forehead.

Newell searched his memory and was sure he’d never seen this guy before.

“Judging by your age…” Newell pretended to think for a few seconds, then said, dragging out every word, “Are you her uncle?”

Anthony’s eyes went colder, his jaw clenched. “I’m her fiancé.”

“Fiancé?” Newell’s eyebrows shot up as he glanced at Anthony’s stormy face. “Could’ve fooled me.”

“Is that so?” Anthony’s lips twisted into a smile that didn’t touch his eyes, his voice coming out low and rough. “Going blind so young… that’s got to be tough.”

Newell was stunned into silence for a good ten seconds. He shot a look at Charlotte on the stage, his face so dark it could rain. He sat there for a few more seconds, face like thunder, then finally stood up and left, clearly unable to take it anymore.

Anthony watched Newell walk away, his own expression darkening. He pulled out his phone and texted Hans, telling him to check the security footage and dig up everything he could on Newell.

The words made Olivia’s smile freeze on her face. Her expression soured in an instant. All around, people turned to look at Charlotte in surprise.

This year, Kingswood University, a school known for traditional medicine, had only gotten an invite as a special exception. Most people had looked down on them at first. But when they heard that Kingswood was sending Black, their dismissive looks turned into real interest. Black might not be on Sunlight’s level, but she was still last year’s international medical competition champion and a member of the International Medical Alliance.

“I heard Sunlight personally picked Kingswood University to attend this time. Do you think he’s hoping to recruit Charlotte as his student?”

“Seems likely,” the students whispered to each other. “Honestly, out of everyone here, Charlotte’s the only one who could really be Sunlight’s student.”

“With a chance like this, why would Charlotte ever say no?”
