The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 969

“As if you even deserve my man.”

The words barely left Charlotte’s lips before all the color drained from Rena’s face. She’d just lost her money and now she was getting humiliated in front of everyone. Rena had never been treated like this, not once in her entire life. Her eyes turned icy cold.

“You…”

She stepped forward, her eyes red with anger, but then she caught Anthony’s gaze. He just stood there, silent, his face unreadable and his eyes so cold it felt like they could slice right through her. He didn’t have to say anything. The chill coming off him was enough to make anyone freeze in place.

Rena just stood there, stunned, completely unable to move. By the time she snapped out of it, Charlotte and her group were already heading for the exit.

She bit down hard on her lip and shot a look at the bodyguard next to her. “Stop them,” she hissed.

Seventy billion. Gone. If she didn’t get it back, how was she supposed to explain that to her father?

“Yes, ma’am.” The bodyguard gave a quick nod, grabbed his radio, and spoke into it. “Lock down the entrance. Don’t let them leave. And make sure the other guests don’t notice anything.”

He turned back to Rena, trying to reassure her. “Don’t worry. There’s only a few of them. They won’t get out of the casino.”

Whatever they took, they’d have to give it back.

He barely finished speaking before a deafening explosion suddenly rocked the main hall. The whole building shook.

“What was that?” Rena’s head snapped up. She hurried toward the entrance, heels clicking across the floor.

She barely made it a few steps when another thunderous blast cut through the chaos.

The massive crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling crashed to the ground, crystals scattering everywhere. Guests screamed and started running for the exits. Total chaos erupted inside and outside the casino.

“Rena, they…” A guard burst in, looking completely panicked. “There were people waiting outside for them. Our guys couldn’t stop them.”

He hesitated, then handed over a small piece of paper with a trembling hand. “The girl left this behind.”

She didn’t get another word out before his hand came down hard across her face.

Her head snapped to the side, her cheek burning. For a moment, she was completely numb. Then she turned back, eyes welling up with tears. “Dad…”

“Where are they?” Aloys demanded, stabbing at the iPad screen with his finger, his expression colder than ever.

Rena just stood there, frozen. Suddenly she remembered something he’d said before. He’d locked down the entire Isle of Veil, all to catch a woman. The same woman who had just won seventy billion from her.

It took a second for it all to sink in. She forgot about the pain in her face and pressed her lips together, not daring to make a sound.

The person her father had been trying to catch had just walked right into her trap. And not only did she let them go, she’d basically handed over seventy billion and let them blow up the casino for good measure.

“Dad, I…” Rena’s voice shook as she bit her lip, her hands clenched tight with regret.
