The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 979

“I don’t think I’m good enough for you anymore.”

Anthony’s words made Charlotte freeze mid-scroll on her phone. She glanced over, her eyes lazy and amused, and asked, “Oh? So what are you going to do about that?”

Anthony couldn’t help but laugh.

The way she said it, so casual, made it sound like she was watching a show just to see how he’d embarrass himself.

“Obviously…” Anthony’s lips curved into a slow smile. His long fingers slipped around her waist as he leaned in, brushing his chin against her neck, his voice low and rough. “I’ll just have to hold you tight, never let you go, and try my hardest to make you happy. Will you let me hold you, hmm?”

His breath was hot against her skin, making her squirm. It made her a little restless, a little flustered.

Anthony looked so good when he smiled like that, all charming and a bit dangerous. Charlotte couldn’t help thinking, He really knows how to get under my skin.

“Alright,” she said, blinking at him. She tapped his chin with her fingertip, pretending to be all serious. “Let’s see how you do.”

“My performance isn’t good enough?” Anthony’s eyes grew darker as he gave her waist a gentle squeeze. He laughed softly. “Last time, you were crying…”

Charlotte knew exactly where he was going with that. She kicked him in the leg, her pale cheeks turning pink. “Shut up.”

The car went quiet.

After a few moments, Anthony’s muffled laughter broke the silence.

Charlotte just glared at him.

She really wanted to kick him out, but… she couldn’t actually do it.

She didn’t want to.

Kingswood University.

Anthony had pulled some strings so she could take a little time off, but it wasn’t much. There was too much to do, and she couldn’t just be skipping class all the time.

Glenn was always a pain to deal with, and Charlotte didn’t feel like arguing. She’d already made up her mind to just apply for a semester off. That way, she could focus on making the antidote and not worry about anything else.

Anthony drove her to campus and handed her the backpack. “If Glenn gives you any trouble, I’ll handle it,” he said quietly.

Her tone made it clear—she wasn’t backing down.

Glenn shook his head, looking defeated. Not like there were many professors at Kingswood who could actually teach her anything now, anyway.

He signed the form, looking up at her with a serious face. “You have to be back on time next year.”

“I will.”

Charlotte stuffed the form into her bag and headed for the door.

Just as she reached it, Glenn called out from behind her. “Lottie… that Anthony from The Blair Group, is he your…?”

Charlotte paused, then smiled over her shoulder. Her voice was soft, but there was no hesitation. “He’s mine.”

He’s mine.

Glenn watched her tall, slim figure disappear down the hallway, still trying to wrap his head around what she’d just said.
