The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 111

"Mr. Hawthorne, your hand hasn't been treated yet. Leaving it like this will only worsen the injury!"

Noticing Xavier's grim demeanor, Dr. Leigh's eyelids twitched as he hurriedly offered a reminder.

"Xavier, listen to the doctor," Sterling agreed, carrying Elena briskly forward and setting her down on the opposite sofa.

"Dr. Leigh, take care of my girlfriend first. She's in a lot of pain right now."

At those words, Dr. Leigh glanced at Xavier, sensing the suffocating aura radiating from the older man. It was enough to make anyone shudder.

For a moment, the doctor simply assumed Xavier was annoyed that his younger brother was prioritizing a woman over family.

"How did it get this bad?"

When Elena opened her red, swollen palm for Dr. Leigh to see, Xavier's gaze darkened significantly.

"We ran into a drunkard. He tried to attack me with a bottle, and Elena blocked it for me—"

As Sterling answered, the memory of that moment flashed through his mind, and a strange pang tugged at his chest.

"She blocked it for you?"

Xavier rolled his tongue against the inside of his cheek, forcing the words through gritted teeth. His abyssal eyes locked onto the girl.

A memory flashed through his mind. He remembered clearly... she was terrified of pain, and she loved herself above all else.

"Ms. Larkin, why do I find it hard to believe you'd actually protect Sterling?"

As he spoke, a mocking half-smile played on his arrogant face, laced with undeniable sarcasm.

"It's the truth, Xavier. There's nothing to doubt. Elena was incredibly brave. If she hadn't protected me, I'd be the one injured right now."

For some reason, Xavier's deep-seated prejudice against Elena should have been exactly what Sterling wanted to see.

Yet, in that moment, he instinctively fired back, firmly defending the girl.

"Babe, I'm so glad I protected you. Otherwise... if you had gotten hurt, my heart would have broken into a million pieces."

At that moment, Elena looked up. The sting of Dr. Leigh treating her wound brought a glimmer of tears to her eyes.
