The air grew silent once more.
Xavier curled his lips into a smirk, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, and agreed with a laugh. “Sure. When I’m tired of her, I’ll pass her around for you guys to share.”
“Who’s interested? Tell me now, and I’ll put you in line.”
The man who made the suggestion whistled excitedly at Xavier’s attitude.
“Since you offered, why should we be polite? If she fights it, we can always slip her something and all have a go.”
Watching coldly as these men used her as a sacrificial lamb for their twisted carnival, Elena turned and walked away.
So, her meeting Xavier was a meticulously planned trap from the very beginning.
So, he was a billionaire heir, not a struggling poor boy, and she was merely his bet.
So, in his eyes, she was just a vain gold-digger to be discarded and passed around to his friends once he was bored!
She had seen the malice of the world before. Xavier’s actions weren't the most heinous, but they were certainly psychotic.
She was just glad she wasn’t some naive, sheltered girl, so her boyfriend’s betrayal didn’t shatter her heart.
The most laughable part was that when he came home that night, he gently rubbed her ring finger, acting as if he was measuring it for a ring.
He played the part perfectly. His acting was impeccable.
Of course, her acting wasn't bad either. The day before his birthday, she coaxed him, promising a surprise.
That night, she slipped a heavy dose of sleeping pills into his drink, stripped him naked, and dumped him in the middle of the street as a birthday gift he would never forget!
Then, she immediately left that city and moved to the capital, where her best friend lived.
She knew very well that to shake off a wealthy jerk with no bottom line, she had to do it completely!
So, before boarding the plane, she blocked him, deleted her accounts, and vanished from his world.
The only thing she hadn’t anticipated was that Xavier wasn’t just any wealthy heir, but Mr. Hawthorne of the capital’s elite Hawthorne family.
Stumbling right back into his grasp was incredibly bad luck.
Most likely, he wouldn’t. He would only fly into a rage out of humiliation, making things worse for her!
“A relationship built on deception is flawed from the start. Since we couldn't make it to the end, it was best to cut my losses.”
Elena’s tone was flat, offering a casual dismissal.
“To you, I’m just a flawed product?”
Xavier stared intently at her, a dark shadow falling over his brows.
“I wonder if Mr. Hawthorne has ever heard a certain saying?”
Elena took a step forward and sat on the edge of the bathtub.
When she looked up again, she flashed a mesmerizing, breathtaking smile.
“A good ex should act like they’re dead!”
Her tone was gentle, but the words she spat were bone-chillingly callous. “Thank you for lowering yourself to play a little dating game with me back then. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you... aren't a sore loser!”
