The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 126

"She's not a toddler, Sterling. Let her feed herself!"

Xavier forced the words through clenched teeth, his dark eyes burning holes into the girl.

"You know Elena hurt her hand protecting me. She can't use it properly."

Sterling didn't even look up, keeping his focus entirely on feeding her.

"Then have the staff feed her..."

"She's my girlfriend. It's my job to take care of her. Just ignore us."

Sterling cut him off smoothly, his stance unwavering.

"You're so good to me, Babe. I feel so spoiled," Elena purred, laying the affection on as thick as she possibly could.

Sitting across from them, forced to watch this sickening display, Xavier reached for his lighter and lit another cigarette.

As the acrid smoke drifted over the table, Elena wrinkled her nose, and Sterling paused with the spoon mid-air.

"Elena hates the smell of smoke, Xavier..."

"I don't give a damn what she hates!" Xavier snapped instantly.

"It's fine, Babe. Mr. Hawthorne is just having a bad day. Let him smoke... *cough*."

Elena knew better than to push a volatile man too far, so she kept her voice soft and accommodating.

But the sharp scent of tobacco was too much for her to suppress a genuine cough.

At the sound, Xavier's hand froze. After a tense, agonizing silence, he lowered his hand under the table and crushed the cherry out.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he slid his phone across the table until it rested in front of Elena.

"Since you might end up being my future sister-in-law, Ms. Larkin, why don't we exchange numbers?" he offered, a venomous, empty smile plastered on his face.

Sterling set his bowl down and glanced at his brother, a sudden suspicion clicking into place.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hawthorne, but I really don't want any other men in my contacts besides my boyfriend."

Elena smiled sweetly, tilting her head to rest affectionately against Sterling's shoulder. "Besides, if you ever need to reach me, you can just text Sterls. Whether we have each other's numbers or not doesn't really matter, does it?"

Sterling raised a hand and gently stroked her hair. "That's just how she is. She only has eyes for me. I love how completely devoted she is."

"Right. Devoted."

Xavier gripped his phone so hard his knuckles turned white, practically grinding his teeth to dust.

"Are you alright, Xavier?" Sterling asked smoothly, deliberately steering the conversation. "Didn't you say you finally found your missing girlfriend?"

"I did."

Xavier's eyes flicked up, his gaze slowly dragging over Elena's face. "But it turns out she's been sneaking around behind my back with a new boyfriend."
