The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 25

As the "boyfriend," Sterling had no choice but to clean up his "girlfriend's" mess.

"I'll make her apologize to you later... or... I can let you hit me back instead!"

"Anyway, Xavier, enjoy your breakfast! We're heading out!"

Dropping that final sentence, Sterling practically scooped Elena up with one arm and bolted down the stairs, rushing out the door without a second thought about breakfast.

Witnessing this chaotic scene, the maids held their breath in sheer terror, waiting for Xavier's explosive fury.

The four young masters of the Hawthorne family all had completely different temperaments.

Alistair, the eldest, was the current head of the family. He had taken over the Hawthorne empire at a young age and constantly flew internationally, rarely coming home.

Xavier and Lawrence were twins, but they were polar opposites.

Lawrence was inherently apathetic, slightly on the spectrum, and possessed an intellect far beyond normal bounds. He was constantly engrossed in his experiments.

Because of this, his emotions were incredibly stable—like a stagnant pool of water, rarely ever disturbed.

Sterling was still in university and spent the most time at the estate. He often gave the staff random bonuses and was by far the easiest to deal with.

Xavier was the only one who had been fiercely rebellious, violent, and ruthless since childhood.

Especially over the last six months. They all secretly knew he had been dumped by a woman, so everyone walked on eggshells around him, terrified of breathing too loudly.

And now, he had just been smacked across the face by his younger brother's new girlfriend...

The maids exchanged terrified glances and simultaneously shuddered.

No one expected Miss Larkin—who looked like a soft, pretty, constantly smiling princess—to have such a lethal temper!

Knowing Xavier's brutal methods, they all took a moment of silence for her impending doom.

But a second later, everyone froze in utter shock.

"If you were actually my girlfriend, of course I'd protect you!"

Sterling replied automatically, before seriously wondering if he actually needed to defend Elena if Xavier decided to go nuclear.

"Sterling, I only did it for you!"

Fully aware of how dangerous Xavier was, and needing the younger boy as a shield, Elena started spinning a web of lies.

"He was forcing me to break up with you! I couldn't just agree, could I? Slapping him definitely offended him, but it also proves how committed I am to you!"

Sterling let out an exasperated laugh and flicked her forehead. "You're not even my real girlfriend, so why the hell do you need to prove your commitment? In fact, you're supposed to act like a heartless gold digger in front of him! If he tells you to break up with me, you're supposed to demand a massive breakup fee! Gold diggers are his absolute trigger!"

Elena shot back without missing a beat, "But Sterling, you're a billionaire heir! Why would I be desperate for cash if I'm dating you? Straight-up asking for a breakup fee is way too fake. He'd get suspicious instantly!"

"Besides, if he hates me too much and just kicks me out of the estate, how am I supposed to help you put on a show for Alistair and Lawrence?"

As soon as she said that, Sterling paused. She actually had a point.
