Xavier backed the car up blindly, his expression dark and unreadable.
Watching him, Sterling felt that something was off, though he couldn't put his finger on what.
Just as he was about to look away, his pupils shrank. He frantically shouted, "Xavier! You're turning too wide—"
CRASH!
Before he could finish, he watched helplessly as the Bentley backed straight into a streetlight with a heavy thud.
A second later, the Bentley peeled out in a sharp arc, vanishing into the heavy rain.
Sterling blinked in astonishment.
A crash like that wouldn't hurt Xavier, but what confused him was... was that really his brother?
Backing into a pole? Such an amateur, idiotic mistake coming from Xavier?
When Xavier was younger, he had been fiercely rebellious, constantly seeking adrenaline rushes, with illegal street racing at the top of the list.
He had survived countless dangerous races. The idea of him backing into a streetlight was basically science fiction!
"Tsk. Terrible driver, terrible in bed. He's just awful all around."
Now that Xavier was gone, Elena finally didn't have to play the ostrich. She lifted her head and muttered in disgust.
She clearly hadn't seen the crash, but she had definitely heard it.
"What did you say?"
Sterling hadn't caught it properly and frowned.
Without waiting for her to answer, he suddenly remembered the situation. Grabbing her by the waist, he shoved her off his lap.
Caught off guard, Elena tumbled onto the seat next to him.
"Elena, I swear I want to strangle you! How dare you!"
He spat the words out, acting for all the world like a pure, violated maiden!
Elena couldn't help but smile. She knew how unhinged the wealthy socialite circles were, with endless twisted games constantly in rotation.
By comparison, the young Hawthorne heir was practically a blank slate, untouched by all the filth.
The thought that he would likely devolve into a playboy in a few years made her feel a twinge of pity.
Pulling her dress up lazily, she stubbornly asked, "Master Sterling, what's your brother's name?"
"Why do you care?"
Seeing her hyper-focused on Xavier made his eyes darken, inexplicably annoying him. "Elena, my brother is completely obsessed with his ex. Don't even bother trying to go after him!"
