The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 87

Oh, Elena was doing this on purpose!

She knew damn well Xavier was still wearing that humiliating lace top under the covers.

To avoid utterly destroying his dignity in front of his brother, he would literally die before letting go of that duvet!

Knowing this, she leaned happily against Sterling's arm, smirking right back at Xavier's venomous glare.

"She's right, you look terrible. Do you have a fever?" Sterling asked.

He had noticed it the second he walked in—Xavier buried beneath a thick blanket in a perfectly warm room.

It made zero sense.

Taking Elena's advice, Sterling moved closer.

"I don't have a fever. I'm fine," Xavier snapped.

Beneath the covers, his knuckles were stark white as he maintained a death grip on the fabric, desperately trying to look casual.

But Elena wasn't about to let him off the hook. "Oh, Sterls, he's definitely just trying to act tough! He doesn't want to be a burden to you!"

Elena—

Xavier silently chanted her name, wishing he could strangle her.

"Stop being stubborn. Let me help you up—"

Knowing his brother never admitted when he was in pain, Sterling bought Elena's act hook, line, and sinker.

He stepped right up to the mattress and reached for the edge of the duvet...

"Don't touch the blanket!"

Xavier's eyes widened in genuine panic, his voice booming with absolute authority.

Sterling froze, completely thrown off. "What's wrong with you..."

"I am not sick. I'm just exhausted from working. I need rest!"

Xavier barked, glaring over Sterling's shoulder right at Elena, practically spitting every single word.

Elena couldn't hold it in anymore; her eyes crinkled with silent laughter.

With his back turned, Sterling missed her amusement. All he saw was Xavier sweating profusely, looking like he was on the verge of collapsing.
