Chapter 103
Chapter 103
jason sat alone in his room, the soft glow of his phone screen the only light in the darkness. He stared at the photo he’d taken of them on the rooftop café during their first unofficial date. Astra was smiling shyly up at him, her full cheeks flushed a soft pink, her body tucked against his side. She looked so small and warm in his arms, effortlessly beautiful.
His thumb stroked slowly over her cheek on the screen.
“God, Astra…” he whispered to himself. “You have no idea what you do to me.”
He scrolled through more pictures from the times he’d visited her at The Gridiron during her lunch breaks. In every photo she looked radiant, her bright blue eyes, the way her smile lit up her whole face, the soft curves that made his chest ache with how much he wanted to hold her. She was everything warm and genuine, the kind of girl who made him forget everything else.
His body reacted instantly, heat flooding through him. He palmed himself through his sweatpants, breathing out shakily. “God, I want her.”
He could picture it so clearly: Astra underneath him, soft and warm, her cheeks flushed as she looked up at him with those trusting eyes. Her sweet voice whispering his name, legs wrapped around him, pulling him closer. The thought made his chest tighten with longing.
Jason groaned quietly, eyes fixed on her smiling face. “She’s mine now,” he muttered, voice rough. “My girlfriend. I just have to be patient… I can’t scare her off too soon.”
He forced himself to slow down, breathing through the rush of need. She had only just agreed to be his. He couldn’t push too hard. Not yet.
Still, the images refused to leave his mind, her curvy figure tucked against him, the way she blushed so easily, how perfectly she fit in his arms. “His.”
Jason leaned back against his headboard, eyes half-lidded as he continued staring at her picture. His hand moved with slow, deliberate strokes while he imagined holding her, kissing her, and making her feel safe and wanted.
Soon.
He would have her soon, the right way.
Suddenly, there was a soft knock at the door.
“Sweetheart? Can I come in?” his mother’s warm voice called from the hallway.
Jason startled, heart jumping into his throat. He quickly adjusted his clothes and grabbed a pillow to cover his lap.
“Yeah, Mom. Come in,” he called, trying to sound normal.
The door opened and his mother stepped inside, smiling brightly. “There’s someone here to see you, honey.”
Jason frowned. “Who?”
His mother’s smile widened, eyes sparkling with excitement. “You didn’t tell me you had a girlfriend! She seems lovely.”
Jason blinked. “What?”
“I know you haven’t been very happy since we moved here,” she said gently, “but I would’ve loved to know.”
His heart skipped. “Wait… she’s here?”
Chapter 103
“Yes. She’s downstairs in the living room right now.”
Excitement rushed through him as he jumped up and hurried downstairs. He hadn’t even told Astra where he lived yet. Was she surprising him?
But the second he stepped into the living room, his smile froze.
Seated elegantly on the couch was Maya Whitmore.
Not Astra.
Maya turned, flashing him a sweet, knowing smile. “Hi, baby,” she purred. “Missed me?”
Jason stopped dead in his tracks, confusion and anger flashing across his face. His mother beamed beside him, completely unaware of the tension.
“What are you doing here, Maya?” Jason asked sharply the second he closed the door to his bedroom. He didn’t want his mom overhearing.
Maya sauntered over to his bed and sat down gracefully, crossing her long legs. She wore a tight white mini dress, her dark hair cascading over one shoulder, makeup flawless.
She smiled sweetly, but her eyes were sharp. “You should be grateful, Jason. I introduced myself to your mom as your girlfriend. Imagine how disappointed she would’ve been if you brought home *that girl*. Poor woman would probably have a heart attack seeing you with the nanny.”
Jason’s jaw clenched. “Get out of my room, Maya.”
She laughed lightly, leaning back on her hands. “Oh, come on. Don’t be like that. We both know Astra is just a phase. You’re better than that. You deserve someone who actually fits into your world.”
