The Officer's Runaway Wife & Secret Son novel Chapter 179

When Daniel called, Rhys was watering the small cactus on his office desk.

Clara had forced it on him ages ago, saying his office was too cold and sterile, and that he needed something living to ground the energy.

He hadn't said much at the time, just placing it casually on the desk. Without realizing it, he had kept it alive for a year.

Lost in thought, he overwatered it, and water spilled over the tray.

He grabbed a few tissues, wiping up the mess as he answered the phone.

"Mr. Huntington."

"Speaking."

"Just a reminder: the final date for your divorce proceedings with Miss Bridges is set for April 8th at 9:00 AM. Please ensure you bring your ID, relevant documents, and the receipt, and arrive at City Hall on time."

Rhys paused his hand. "Understood."

"Additionally," Daniel added, "Miss Bridges has made it clear she doesn't want any contact from you until the decree is finalized. This includes calls, texts, or in-person visits. She hopes Mr. Huntington will respect her decision."

Rhys's grip on the phone tightened.

Does not wish to be disturbed... Was she referring to what happened on Riverside Boulevard?

That was certainly Clara's style.

When she decided to cut ties, she cut them cleanly, leaving no room for ambiguity.

"How is..."

Rhys fell silent for a few seconds before asking in a hoarse voice, "How is her health?"

Although his bank transfer had been returned with a note as sharp as a knife, his primary concern remained her well-being.

A miscarriage wasn't a minor issue; he worried about long-term complications.

Daniel replied coolly, "My client is doing perfectly fine. Rather than worrying about that, Mr. Huntington, you should focus on arriving on time so she isn't left waiting again."

"That is currently the only thing she cares about."

The call ended.

Rhys put down the phone and sank back into his chair.
