"That's great! I knew you'd agree!"
Simon slapped his thigh. "I'll go tell the boss right now. I'll need someone to look into housing over there too. Let's find a small villa with a yard, or a large ocean-view flat, so your parents can live comfortably!"
As they were speaking, there was a knock at the door.
Simon went to open it. Noah stood outside, holding a plate of sliced cantaloupe.
"I heard it was lively in here. Am I interrupting?"
"No, we were just talking business." Simon waved him in. "Perfect timing. I have good news—Clara agreed to come with me to develop in Heron Bay!"
Noah's hand paused as he set down the fruit plate, his eyes changing slightly.
"Going to Heron Bay?"
Simon: "Yeah! If you take leave in the future, remember to come visit us. We'll cover room and board."
Noah hid the emotion in his eyes and sat on the sofa. "Mm. Heron Bay has a humid climate and good air. Their medical resources are top-tier in the South. It's a good place for recuperation."
"Right? You think so too, right!"
Simon got even more excited. "That investor really has vision. I don't know which god of wealth it is, spending so much money."
Noah didn't speak again for a while.
Clara poured a glass of champagne and handed it to him. "Dr. Carter, thank you for taking care of me during this time."
Noah looked up, and Clara's gaze met those warm, gentle eyes.
"Once you're there, if you need any help, contact me anytime." Noah looked at her. "I have some... connections in Heron Bay."
He paused, glancing meaningfully at Clara's abdomen. "I have quite a few senior colleagues there in Obstetrics and Pediatrics."
Clara assumed he was just being polite, so she nodded and clinked her glass against his.
...
The next day, Clara and Simon went back to Oakridge Avenue.
When the elderly couple heard about moving south, their first reaction was hesitation.
