The Officer's Runaway Wife & Secret Son novel Chapter 240

"What happened?" Rhys asked, following up.

The young officer, seeing the superiors emerge, stood up to report. "Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Huntington. It's a minor issue. A traffic dispute turned into a public order case. This gentleman is fully liable for the accident, but he used abusive language and threw the first punch, which led to a fight."

Rhys nodded, his expression flat as he walked to the desk and casually flipped through the incident report.

Mitchell assumed Rhys was just having a professional itch to scratch, so he didn't stop him.

"Denying full liability, provoking trouble, public insults." Rhys closed the notebook and tossed it onto the desk. "Who did you say was a sugar baby just now?"

His tone was even, not angry, but Gold Chain suddenly felt a chill run down the back of his neck.

"It was just anger, Officer. I was just venting. I'm a victim too, look at my face, they hit me..."

Rhys turned his head. "Did you watch the surveillance?"

The young officer replied, "Yes. He definitely struck first. The other party fought back, so it's technically mutual combat. But the main issue is his mouth... his language was violent, full of personal attacks, and insults toward women."

"According to the Public Order Act, public insults carry a detention of up to five days or a fine. Provoking trouble and disorderly conduct carry a detention of five to ten days."

Rhys asked casually, "Do you want to settle this privately, or do you want to sit in a cell for ten days?"

Gold Chain's face changed color. "You're taking sides! Why only arrest me? They hit me too!"

"The body cam is on, and I'm not a local cop, so I have no jurisdiction over your case," Rhys said. "But if you think this is unfair, you can file a complaint with Internal Affairs. Brighton City S.W.A.T., Captain Rhys Huntington."

Mitchell glanced at him but stayed silent.

Gold Chain was a bully who feared the strong. Hearing this man was S.W.A.T., and seeing the other large men standing silently nearby, he knew he had kicked an iron plate.

"Fine! Just my bad luck!" The man grabbed his car keys off the table. "We fix our own cars, no further charges. Happy now?!"

After signing the papers, the man stormed out, cursing under his breath.

The lobby went quiet.

Simon secretly tugged at Clara's hand behind his back, wanting to leave.

Clara watched as Rhys turned and said a few words to Mitchell. Mitchell nodded and led the other officers outside first.

Rhys didn't leave.

"Simon, you and Alex wait for me outside," Clara said.
