Clara was struck speechless, looking at him in surprise.

She hadn't expected the always gentle, always polite Noah to be pushed to such emotional heights by a few words.

"Really?" Noah confirmed.

"Really," Clara nodded. "I'm busy enough just with Felix."

Noah stared at her fixedly for a long moment before slowly loosening his grip and exhaling a long breath.

"I'm sorry," he rubbed the space between his brows. "I lost my composure just now."

"It's fine. It was refreshing. I’ve never seen this possessive side of Dr. Carter."

The sound of the courtyard gate opening came from downstairs.
