The Officer's Runaway Wife & Secret Son novel Chapter 316

"My knee hurts," Felix said, pointing to his leg. "He hit me, too."

Besides the scratch on his arm, there was a red mark on his neck. When he pulled up his pant leg, his knee was scraped raw.

The heavy-set woman, seeing Clara focused on the child, let her eyes drift over Clara's young, beautiful face, finally landing on her ringless hand. She sneered.

"So you're his mother? What are you teaching him at home? He's already hitting people at this age, and so viciously. What's he going to be like when he grows up? Probably end up in juvie!"

Clara stood up, pulling Felix behind her, and stared back at the woman. "Ma'am, we don't have all the facts yet. Please be civil."

"What other facts do we need? My son's head is bleeding!" the woman shrieked, pointing at her child. "You have to pay for his medical bills and for his emotional distress! And your son needs to apologize to my son in front of the entire class! Otherwise, this isn't over!"

Clara ignored her and turned to the teacher.

"Mr. Warren, I don't believe Felix would hit someone without a reason. Where's the security footage? I'd like to see it."

Mr. Warren approached them, looking awkward. "Mrs. Bridges, here's what happened. This is Ivan, from the other class. During free time at noon, Ivan snatched Felix's Rubik's cube. Felix asked for it back, and they started shoving each other. Then… Ivan might have said a few things that weren't very nice. But Felix did throw the first punch. Several teachers saw it."

"What did he say?" Clara asked.

Mr. Warren glanced at Felix, hesitating.

Felix peeked out from behind Clara, his voice clear and articulate. "He said I'm a bastard with no dad. He said Daddy Noah and Daddy Simon are fake, and that I have so many men picking me up because my mom sleeps around."

The other teachers in the office fell silent.

Every child at this private preschool came from a wealthy or influential family. It was best not to anger anyone.

Felix was a handsome, smart, and well-behaved boy, a favorite among the teachers, so they naturally paid more attention to him.
