Felix took the envelope, his eyes darting around as he laid on the flattery thick.

“Daddy Simon is the most handsome! Mr. Thorne is the best! When you two walk together, you're a hundred times better-looking than those models on the runway.”

Alex, a bit embarrassed by the praise, ruffled his hair.

Simon tried to maintain a straight face. “Where did you learn these tricks?”

Felix replied, “Mommy taught me this, too. She said you like compliments, and one compliment could get me an extra toy.”

“I did not,” Clara said from the side, raising one hand with a serious expression. “I have never said such a thing.”

Simon shot her a sideways glance.
