Clara buckled her seatbelt and asked, "Are we picking up Felix from my parents' house?"

"We aren't going back to Oakridge Avenue just yet," Rhys said, starting the car. "I need to find something."

Clara nodded, choosing not to press him.

Twenty minutes later, Clara stared blankly at the familiar streets.

"What are we looking for?"

Rhys kept his eyes on the road, a smile playing on his lips. "A memory."

The car parked near the west gate of Ashton University.

Clara stepped out onto the sidewalk.

"Clara," Rhys said, his gaze unwavering. "Earlier in the clinic, what Dr. Black said... you were scared, and honestly, so was I."

Clara covered her mouth, tears falling onto the rose petals.

"I don't know when I'll get a lung, or if I'll even survive the surgery."

His voice slowed, his eyes reddening.
