I turned the video off and I downloaded it to my encrypted computer and I sent it to the general’s email. I knew that he would get it immediately and then we just had to wait and see what he decided after that.

I had to go to the hospital after I did that and the doctor was waiting for me. So he took me to the exam room and he started prepping the equipment so he could draw a sample of blood from me.

When I was finished with that I headed back to the packhouse and Ezra was in the living room playing with the kids.

“Is everything alright?” I asked, walking into the room.

“Yeah. I guess.” He said.

“What’s going on?” I asked, sitting on the floor.

“I hate this plan. I don’t like you being put in danger.” He said.

“Ezra. We all know that it’s not going to work unless I’m the one that does it.” I said.

“I know. That’s what I really fucking hate. Why can’t we send Logan back in there?” He asked.

“Because they will just kill him and disappear. They won’t kill me.” I said.

“How do you know that? You don’t know that they don’t want you dead.” He said.

“I do. Otherwise I’d already be dead. You know that.” I said.

“Yeah. I guess.” He said.

“Everything will be fine. You’ll see.” I said.

“Are they going to be able to make enough synthetic blook?” He asked.

“I hope so. But I’m also going to have to test it on the creature downstairs to make sure the synthetic stuff works as well as my actual blood.” I said.

“Yeah. This plan might not work at all.” He said.

“Exactly. There’s so many things that we don’t know right now. And we’re not going to do anything until we do know.” I said.

“Just look at these two kids. They need their mother to come home.” He said.

“They need their father to come home too.” I said.

“Which one?” Ezra whispered.

“Has Logan been asking you questions as well?” I asked.

“Yeah. He’s on to us. I think he knows.” Ezra said.

“Well, as long as we keep denying it then there’s nothing he can do.” I whispered.

“I know. I don’t want to lose him. He’s my boy.” Ezra said, fiddling with Aiden’s hair,

“And that’s never going to change. You’re the only father he’s ever known and that’s the way it always be. So, you make sure that you come home to us as well.” I demanded.

“I will.” He said. And he leaned over and kissed me.

I could feel his tension and his pain at the thought of this plan that I had in place. But there wasn’t any other way that I could think of doing this. I needed to make sure that we got all of these bastards and we had to make sure that they stayed out. No room for error. They had to die and we couldn’t allow even one of them to live. These vampires are too dangerous. A lot more dangerous than the ones that we’re used to.

The master himself sounds like the worst. I guess he would have to be. He’d been hundreds of years old. If not, thousands. Who the hell knows. And he would know exactly what he was doing. I’m sure he’s come up against hunters before and he’s still alive. Which means, I had to be the hunter that killed him. It was our only way.
