I stayed in the treehouse playing with Octavia all morning until Jane called her down for lunch. So we got down and we both walked inside and she was holding my hand the whole way.
“It looks like you’ve got a new best friend.” Ben said as Octavia was taken to the dining room.
“Yeah. We had fun. It was my first ever tea party.” I said.
“Well, that’s not right. Every little girl needs a tea party set.” Ben smirked as he leaned forward and kissed me.
“Don’t tease me. But now I’m wondering what to do with the twins this afternoon.” I said.
“And if Octavia will let you.” Ben said.
I hadn’t thought about that. She might not let me. Oh crap. I want to spend time with the boys as well. I don’t want them to be left out but I don’t want to hurt Octavia’s feelings.
“So, when do I get to meet your family?” I asked.
“I come from a different pack. I came here when I was 16 and Alpha Ezra and Luna Morgan let me join this pack.” Ben explained.
“Well, what about your parents? You’ve never mentioned them.” I said.
“Come on. Let’s go for a walk.” He said.
So he took me out of the house and he put his arm around me as we were walking down the field and away from the packhouse.
“Why do I get the feeling that I’m not going to like this?” I asked.
“My parents were murdered when I was 15. I never found out who did it. It wasn’t a rogue attack or anything like that. Someone killed them in cold blood and I still have no idea who it was.” Ben explained.
“I’m so sorry. The Alpha of your pack didn’t know?” I asked.
“No. He investigated but everything kept coming up empty. We couldn’t find anything.”
“Do you still have any other family in that pack?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’ve got relatives there. But it hurt too much being there. I had to get out.”
“Do you ever plan on going back there?”
We walked around the pack for a little while talking but when we heard that Ezra and Morgan were back, we headed to the packhouse and they were already inside seeing their other kids.
The little ones were really excited to see their parents and I walked into the living room a little awkwardly.
But Morgan noticed me as soon as I walked in and she walked over and hugged me.
“I hope everyone here has been good to you.” She said.
“They have been. Everyone’s been great.” I said.
“Good. Have you settled into the packhouse and everything?” She asked.
“Yeah.” I said.
Ezra then walked over and gave me a hug as well.
I never knew that werewolves could be like this. I was always taught that they were just animals and they didn’t care about anyone.
