The Omega and The Arrogant Alpha (by Kylie) novel Chapter 325

The corridor outside the chamber feels colder than it should, not in temperature but in tone, like the building itself has shifted its posture now that the council has said what it needed to say and sealed itself back into silence.

Ben falls into step beside me without touching, his presence steady and deliberate, and I focus on the simple act of walking again, heel to toe, measured pace, because routine keeps my thoughts from scattering while everything else accelerates.

“They went quiet,” he says.

“Yes,” I reply. “Which means they’re talking somewhere else.”

We do not make it ten steps before Sally’s tablet vibrates hard enough to draw her breath sharp, and she stops walking entirely as she reads, her expression tightening with every line.

“They’re live,” she says.

“Already,” Ben mutters.

Sally nods. “Council spokesperson. Emergency briefing.”

We pivot without discussion, moving back toward the operations floor, because wherever they are shaping this, I need to see it happen, and by the time we reach the nearest wall screen, the feed has already stabilized.

The spokesperson stands centered and composed, posture immaculate, voice smooth in a way that signals rehearsal rather than response, and behind them a graphic scrolls slowly, timelines and labels clean enough to look authoritative at a glance.

“This morning’s incident,” the spokesperson says, “involved a deviation from established security protocol by a senior official acting without clearance.”

I feel my wolf stir, not flaring but alert, recognizing the first move for what it is.

They are starting with framing.

“The council recognizes the emotional intensity of recent disclosures,” the spokesperson continues, “but institutional stability must not be compromised by unilateral action.”

The footage shifts.

Edited.

Shortened.

The moment I step in front of Ben plays, but the audio cuts just before I speak, replaced by the spokesperson’s narration.

“At this point,” they say, “the official obstructs an authorized protective escort.”

Sally swears quietly under her breath.

“They cut the audio,” Ben says, his jaw tight.
