Chapter 64
I didn’t get any sleep that night and when I made my way down to the kitchen to get a coffee that morning, Ezra came in just after me.
“I did a little digging. My parents don’t owe money to Alpha Logan. They’re just trying to scam $25 000 out of me.” Ezra said.
“Alright. Then don’t you think it was a coincidence that he said he owed it to Logan? I mean, there are dozens of other Alpha’s out there. And a lot that are closer to us.” I said.
“I know. I don’t get that part either. They’ve obviously had business in the past for dad to bring up his name. I’ve got some people looking into it. But so far the whole pack has been instructed not to give my parents any money and to report to me if they try anything unusual.” Ezra said. “Was there anything in your bedroom that dad could have found while he was snooping? Anything to do with Alpha Logan?” Ezra asked.
“No. There was nothing there. I didn’t bring any connection except for a book. But he didn’t find that book. It’s hidden in the back of my wardrobe.” I said.
“What book?”
“Logan asked me to go through the history of our pack and to try and find out if there is a treaty still in place between their pack and a vampire coven. I haven’t found the treaty yet, but it’s been interesting. Reading about that pack.” I said.
“I bet it has been. Are you sure that my father didn’t find it?” He asked.
“Positive. I pulled the boards off the wall and hid it inside the wall. Not just in the wardrobe. I know how to hide things so no one knows where they are.” I explained.
“Alright. Then this is definitely a coincidence or something else. Logan may already know that you’re here.”
“What do I do when I’m at school? I’m not on pack grounds.”
“Don’t worry. He’s not allowed to go to the college and remove you unless he wants every pack in the country to come down on him. They think of that place as a safe haven for their kids when they go off to college. And they will never let Logan put the kids in jeopardy like that.” Ezra explained.
“Alright. Let’s hope Logan listens to that.” I said.
“Are you worried?” He asked.
“Well, normally he would be able to tell that I am pregnant because my scent has changed. But now that I have been initiated into your pack, I have a different scent anyway. The one of the Midnight pack. I don’t know. I’m worried about what he’s going to do if he shows up here.” I said.
“Well, you rejected him and you took on another pack and pledged to our pack. You’re my pack member now, not his. And you’re not his mate anymore. So he can’t make you leave.” Ezra said.
“Yeah. Only a mate can overrule an Alpha. But he’s not my mate anymore because I rejected him.” I repeated back.
“Exactly. So don’t stress too much about this. Please?” He asked.
“I’ll try not to. But we’ve got to find out what your parents know.” I said.
“Well, he’s a former Alpha. So the Alpha command won’t work on him.” He said.
“Yeah. We’re gonna have to do it the old fashion way.” I said.

“You’re not doing anything but going to school. Nathan and I will get to the bottom of this.” He said.
When Jax showed up that morning I went out and got in his car out the front of the packhouse and we started driving to school.
“Are you alright? You look really tired.” Jax said.
“Yeah. You can say that. Some crap happened last night. It’s nothing to worry about.” I said.
