Chapter 69

“You saw the note that she left me. I have no idea. I haven’t heard from her since she left. You ran my daughter out of this pack. Why can’t you just let her be?” Violet asked.

“You know that there was a car accident. Are you sure that she survived? I was at the scene. Her scent and her blood trail went cold.” I said.

“Morgan’s not an idiot. If she doesn’t want to be found then she won’t be. I can promise you that.”

“I don’t doubt that. I’ve looked over every bit of information that I can find about Morgan. And her grades and stunts around town, getting back at bullies, suggests that she’s very resourceful.” I said.

“Yeah. That’s one way of putting it.” Violet said.

“Do you have another way?”

“She’s going to be the biggest pain in your ass until you finally give up looking for her.” Violet said.

“Well, like you said. She’s my mate. I’m not going to give up. You can go now.” I said.

A little while later the cook brought lunch in to me and Levi was following behind him.

“The scouts just reported in. They have landed at the college and they are renting rooms in a hotel in the human town that’s closest to the college. They’re going to go there tomorrow and spend every day there just checking the place out. They will walk every inch of that college if they have to.” Levi said.

“Good. Where’s Penelope?” I asked.

“She’s in the living room with the wedding planner. I hope that credit card has a big limit. Otherwise you’re not going to like the outcome.” Levi said. And right on cue, I heard the heels coming towards us on the marble floor.

LOCAN” Penelope screamed, storming into my office.

“Who the hell do you think you are? I’m in a meeting here.” I yelled.

“This credit card is bullshit. I paid for the flowers and the chair rental for the ceremony. That’s all.” She said.

“What? There was $20 000 on that card.” I said.

“Give me another one. Right now or I am going to call my uncle and he will give you a call himself.” She said.

So I gave her a second credit card just to shut her up. Knowing that I was going to be paying for this wedding for the rest of my life. A wedding that I was dreading.

But Penelope and her family weren’t going to settle for anything but the best. I just wish they would pitch in.

When I was finished with my work that day, I headed up to my bedroom and as soon as I walked inside my room I locked the door. Giving Penelope the clue that I wanted to be left alone. And my door was the only one that was made of reinforced steel. So, even if she wanted to break it down, she wouldn’t be able to. I had it decorated over the top with wood paneling. So no one knew how strong my door was.

I grabbed a bottle of bourbon from my minibar and took it into the bathroom while I had a shower.

After I got dressed I sat on my bed with that bottle of bourbon and I started looking through my phone. All the photos that I had of Morgan.

I then got a text message from Levi. There was a photo attached, so I got into the message,

I sat up quickly when I saw it. There was a photo of a girl sitting in the cafeteria at the college with long blonde hair. I could only see her from behind, so we couldn’t be sure if it was her or not.

I started messaging the scouts, telling them to get in front of her. I needed to know if that was her or not.

She looks like she’d cut her hair, but that’s not uncommon for someone who is hiding.

They managed to get to a table in front of the girl and I sat there eagerly awaiting the photo.

It took a couple minutes before my phone went off and I opened the message to see the image of the girl’s face.
