Nathan froze for a second before hastily standing up, looking slightly flustered. "Mr. Zimmerman, I had no idea you were the friend Mr. Rhodes was talking about."

Miles's gaze lingered on it for two seconds, his expression unreadable.

"She really is. Claire is so beautiful and so crafty. Nathan, you'd better cherish her. A fiancée like this is one in a million."

Nathan nodded profusely. "Yes, yes, of course. Meeting Claire was the greatest blessing of my life."

Saying that, he reached out and wrapped an arm around Claire's shoulders in a show of intimacy.

Miles picked up his wine glass, swirled it slowly, and took a sip. His gaze dropped to the hand Nathan had wrapped around her.

Penelope rested her chin on her hand, asking curiously, "How did you two meet? It must have been so romantic."

Nathan let out a dry, guilty laugh.
